<p>About a dozen dogs and other animals including a pet bird attended church on Friday at Mexico city cathedral</p><p>Friday was the blessing of the animals, a longtime catholic tradition celebrated on Jauary 17th.</p><p>Mexican catholic congregations and priests welcome all kinds of pets on the feast day of Saint Anthony the Abbot,</p><p>considered the paron saint of the animals.</p><p>The Rev. Jose Antonio Carvallo asked the Lord to bless animals so he can preserve them and care for them.</p><p>Following noon mass, pets and thier owners were sprinkled with holy water at the cathedral's entrance.</p><p>I'm Donna Warer</p>
