□ 내 젊음의 초상(Portrait of My Youth)

- 헤르만 헤세 (Hermann Hesse, 1877.07.02. ~ 1962.08.09. 독일계 스위스인 소설가이자 시인) -

지금은 벌써 전설처럼 된

먼 과거로부터 내 청춘의 초상이

나를 바라보며 묻는다.

지난 날 태양의 밝음으로부터

무엇이 반짝이고

무엇이 타고 있는가를.

그때 내 앞에 비추어진 길은

나에게 많은 번민의 밤과

커다란 변화를 가져왔다.

그 길을 나는 이제

다시는 걷고 싶지 않다.

그러나 나는 나의 길을

성실하게 걸었고

추억은 보배로운 것이었다.

실패도 과오도 많았다.

하지만 나는 그것을 후회하지 않는다.

From thr distant past

Now it became like a legend,

A portrait of my youth looks at me and asks.

From the brightness of the sun of yesteryear

What shines and what burns.

The road that was shined in front of me then

A lot of trobled nights for me

And brought about a great change.

I don't want to walk that road again.

But I've walked my way faithfully,

Those memories were precious.

There were many mistakes and failures.

But I don't regret them.
