유시민씨가 15일 이재명 대통령의 ‘검찰 개혁’과 정국 운영에 대해 “매우 잘못된 판단을 하고 있다”며 “필연적인 실패의 길로 가고 있다”고 했다. 이재명 정부가 집권 2년 차에 막 접어든 상황에서 여권 인사가 ‘실패’를 언급하며 공개 비판한 것은 이례적인 일이다. 검찰 보완수사권 폐지와 8월 더불어민주당 전당대회를 앞두고 여권 내 진영 갈등이 내전 상태에 빠져들 수 있다는 전망도 나온다.

민주당 전당대회에 대해선 “(이 대통령이) ‘정청래 나오지 마’라고 안 했을 따름이지 소셜미디어에 여러 차례 (김민석) 국무총리를 덕담 차원을 넘어 띄우는 작업을 했다”며 “이런 것은 법적 문제가 아니고 정치적으로 하면 안 된다”고 했다. 당대표 후보, 민주당 서울시장 후보 등을 언급하며 “명픽(이 대통령의 선택)을 못 하게 해야 하는데 그런 식으로 개입한 게 많다”고 했다. 그러면서 “민주당이 대통령 지배를 받으면 안 된다. 권력을 가진 대통령의 지배를 받아들이는 순간 당은 해체될 것”이라고 했다.

유씨는 이 대통령이 민주당 구조를 바꾸려 한다면서 “우리는 증축을 기대했지만 대통령은 재건축이나 재개발을 생각하는 것 같다”며 “지금 하는 방식으로는 대통령도 상처받고 민주당도 엉망이 되고 진영은 폭파되는 아주 참혹한 결과로 귀착될 가능성이 매우 높다”고 주장했다. 이 대통령과 당내 친명(친이재명)계를 겨냥한 발언으로 해석된다. 유씨는 여권에서 친노(친노무현), 친문(친문재인) 진영을 대변해 왔다는 평가를 받아왔다.

8월 전당대회를 한 달여 앞두고 당권 주자들 간 경쟁이 본격화하면서 서로를 겨냥한 ‘말’도 점점 거칠어지고 있다. 송영길 의원은 15일 라디오 인터뷰에서 정청래 전 대표가 최근 6·3 경기 평택을 국회의원 재선거에 민주당이 후보를 내지 말았어야 한다는 취지로 발언한 데 대해 “자기 아들한테 ‘내가 너 낙태했어야 하는데 낳았다’는 것과 똑같다”고 했다.

전날에도 그는 정 전 대표를 겨냥해 “‘이재명’을 몇 번 외친다고 ‘명·청 대전’이 없어지냐. 스토커 수준” “(명·청 갈등은) 옛날 같으면 역적으로 목을 잘라 진압을 해야 할 상황”이라고 했다.

당내에선 송 의원이 정 전 대표를 집중 공격하면서 당권 주자로서의 존재감을 부각하기 위한 의도란 관측이 나온다. 그러나 송 의원의 수위 높은 발언이 호남 등에서 ‘정청래 동정론’을 키워 역풍으로 돌아올 수 있다는 지적도 만만찮다. 여러 후보로부터 공격당하는 상황을 ‘다구리’에 빗댔던 정 전 대표는 이날도 페이스북에 “너무합니다”라며 “당원들께서 저를 지켜주시리라 믿습니다”라고 했다.
