1. 오늘의 묵상칼럼 : 십자가에서 끝나지 않습니다

“여호와여 일어나소서 나의 하나님이여 나를 구원하소서 주께서 나의 모든 원수의 뺨을 치시며 악인의 이를 꺾으셨나이다.” 시편 3편 7절

  때로 우리의 삶에는 끝이 보이지 않는 싸움이 있습니다. 아무리 기도해도 상황은 달라지지 않고, 나를 힘들게 하는 사람과 환경은 여전히 앞을 가로막습니다. 그때 우리는 지금의 고난이 내 인생의 마지막 장면인 것처럼 생각하기 쉽습니다.

  그러나 다윗은 그렇게 기도하지 않았습니다. 그는 하나님께 “일어나소서”, “나를 구원하소서”라고 부르짖습니다. 다윗이 바라본 것은 원수의 힘이 아니라 자신을 구원하시는 하나님의 능력이었습니다.

  예수님께서도 예루살렘을 향하여 가셨습니다. 그곳에는 십자가가 기다리고 있었습니다. 인간의 눈으로 보면 십자가는 실패와 죽음의 마지막처럼 보였습니다. 그러나 예수님에게 십자가는 끝이 아니라 하나님의 뜻을 이루는 길이며 구원의 관문이었습니다. 오스왈드 챔버스는 바로 이 사실을 묵상하면서 “성도들은 십자가에서 끝나지 않습니다. 주님의 은혜로 영광으로 마칩니다”라고 말합니다.

  오늘 내가 지나고 있는 고난도 마찬가지입니다. 지금의 눈물, 답답함, 오해와 어려움이 우리의 마지막을 결정하는 것이 아닙니다. 우리의 시작과 끝은 주님 안에 있습니다. 그러므로 십자가를 만났다고 낙심하지 마십시오. 주님께서 가시는 길을 끝까지 따라가십시오.

예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다.

“보라 우리가 예루살렘으로 올라가노니 선지자들을 통하여 기록된 모든 것이 인자에게 응하리라.” 누가복음 18장 31절

  주님은 십자가를 아셨지만 뒤로 물러서지 않으셨습니다. 하나님의 뜻을 이루기 위해 예루살렘을 향해 걸어가셨습니다. 우리도 마찬가지입니다. 고난이 끝이라고 생각하지 말고, 하나님의 은혜가 이끌어 가실 끝을 바라보아야 합니다.

오늘도 이렇게 고백하십시오.

“주님, 지금의 십자가가 제 삶의 끝이 아님을 믿습니다.
저를 붙드시는 주님의 은혜가 마지막까지 함께하실 것을 믿습니다.
오늘도 주님을 따라가게 하시고, 마침내 주님의 영광에 이르게 하소서.”

“성도는 십자가에서 끝나지 않습니다. 주님의 은혜로 영광에 이릅니다.”

2. 오늘의 묵상칼럼(영어버전) : Today’s Devotional — It Does Not End at the Cross

“Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God! For You strike all my enemies on the cheek; You break the teeth of the wicked.”
Psalm 3:7

    There are times when we face battles that seem to have no end. We pray, yet circumstances do not seem to change. People and situations that trouble us continue to stand in our way. At such moments, it is easy to think that our present suffering is the final chapter of our lives.

  But David did not pray that way. He cried out to God, “Arise” and “Save me.” David was not looking at the power of his enemies; he was looking to the power of God who saves him.

  Jesus also went toward Jerusalem. The cross was waiting for Him there. From a human perspective, the cross appeared to be the end—a picture of failure and death. But for Jesus, the cross was not the end. It was the way to fulfill the Father’s will and the gateway to salvation. Oswald Chambers reflects on this truth and says that the saints do not end in crucifixion; by the Lord’s grace, they end in glory.

  The same is true of the suffering we are experiencing today. Our tears, difficulties, misunderstandings, and struggles do not determine our final destination. Our beginning and our end are in Christ.

Jesus said:

“Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.”
Luke 18:31

  Jesus knew what awaited Him at the cross, yet He did not turn back. He continued toward Jerusalem to fulfill the will of God.

  So today, do not think that your cross is the end. Look beyond the present suffering to the grace of God that is leading you toward His glory.

Pray today:

“Lord, I believe that my present cross is not the end.
I trust that Your grace will hold me to the very end.
Help me to follow You today and finally enter into Your glory.”

Key Thought:
“The believer does not end at the cross; by the grace of the Lord, we end in glory.”
