The shepherds went back after glorifying and praising God for what they had heard and seen. The shepherds worshiped baby Jesus; it was the first worship service for the birth of Jesus. That is why we still have worship services on Christmas Day to commemorate the birth of Jesus. We worship to remember the event of Jesus' birth and to worship Jesus.
And on the eighth day after his birth, he was circumcised and given the name Jesus. The name Jesus means "The Lord is salvation." It is similar to Joshua in the Old Testament.
When Jesus comes again, won't the angels inform us as they did in today's text? God will reveal it to His servants. While not the exact time and date, He will let us know about the event and its imminence.
So, let us live by faith until Jesus comes.
