Kim Bo-mi, 36 years old, former chairperson of the Gangjin County Council, claimed that during a meeting ahead of the party leadership candidates' policy announcements on the same day, she was shouted at by Song. Recently, Kim had been saying that it was "unfair" regarding the dispute over Song's eligibility to run in the party leadership election. Regarding this, Kim claimed that Song berated her, saying, "I suffered so much while advocating for prosecutorial reform, but did you help me at all?"
In a Facebook post, Kim wrote, "This is the reality of the '686 old guard' that young people talk about," adding, "Today, many people saw with their own eyes why young people call the Democratic Party an 'unfair party' and a '686 old guard party.'" She continued, "I publicly requested an apology, but it was not granted."

Song Young-gil Rejects '86 Generation' Departure Calls
Democratic Party lawmaker counters generational shift demands, cites Kim Dae-jung and Kim Young-sam's political legacy
By Kim Sang-yun Published 2026.07.22. 00:45 The Chosun Daily Newspaper / 조선일보 Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Song Young-gil, who is running in the party leadership election, on July 21 refuted claims from some quarters calling for the "departure of the 86 generation," saying, "We also called for the 'cleansing of the three Kims,' but in the end, after Kim Dae-jung and Kim Young-sam became presidents, they became mainstream," and added, "It wasn't because we were young that we achieved this by saying, 'Please step down, three Kims.'" Song made the remarks during an appearance on YTN Radio on the same day. This was in response to recent comments by party leadership candidates Rep. Ko Min-jung and former Gangjin County Council chairperson Kim Bo-mi, 36 years old, who targeted Song, former Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, and former party leader Jung Chung-rae, saying, "The 86 generation's signboard must be changed" and "The 686 must step down." Song stated, "We judged that we couldn't abandon Kim Dae-jung's legacy just because of the call for the 'cleansing of the three Kims,' and former President Roh Moo-hyun also made that judgment, which is why he joined forces with DJ (former President Kim Dae-jung)," adding, "That was the force that made Roh Moo-hyun president." Song's position is that the three prominent politicians known as the "three Kims"—Kim Young-sam, Kim Dae-jung, and Kim Jong-pil—were pressured to retire by various political forces while active from the 1960s to the early 2000s, but ultimately retired only after serving as president and prime minister. Regarding former leader Jung, Song asked, "The president has repeatedly indicated discomfort with former leader Jung, so why does he speak as if nothing exists?" and added, "I believe (former leader Jung) is running to build his own political faction." Kim Bo-mi, 36 years old, former chairperson of the Gangjin County Council, claimed that during a meeting ahead of the party leadership candidates' policy announcements on the same day, she was shouted at by Song.
