The conversation between the twelve-year-old Jesus and the teachers in the temple is unknown, but it should resemble how adults converse in church with the young ones. Adults and children should share the same faith; with shared faith, children can ask adults questions and adults can answer children, making this possible. As children grow, they are filled with the wisdom of the Word and increased grace from God.
Today's passage presents a model in which all children should grow. It presents a model in which all parents should raise their children. Our parents should raise our children in faith so that they grow like Jesus. Only then, in God's eyes, and in the eyes of people, will they become lovely children.
