It has become increasingly necessary to bring together the local centers scattered throughout the nation and coordinate their indivdual activities. That's what the KMC is for. Each organization and center has its own support projects, and they have often wasted their budgets on overlapping prgrams. On the need for a "control tower" that would clean up redundant programs while offering key sevices to multicultutural families in a balanced manner.
Married immigrants should resettle in Korean society quickly and properly for their own sake, but it is also a very important national issue. The newly launched association should be able to help multicultural families successfully establish roots in Korea and lead happy lives, and eventually confribute to social stability.
Heavy Snowfall Advisories lssued Nationwide
Heavy snow warnings and alerts have been issued nationwide as overnight storms have blanketed areas with as much as 30 centmeters of snow. A havy snowfall alert has been issued for the norheastern parts of Gyeonggi Province, Yeongdong in Gangwon Province and the northern mountainous regions of North Gyeongsang Province.
Heavy snow warnings have heen issued for most other areas in the antion. Gangneung, where snow has fallen for the past five days, has seen 35 centimeters of snowfall, Dongducheon in Gyeonggi Province over 20 centimetes, Seoul 12 centimetes, Cheongju over ten centimeters and Busan five centimeters. Weather officials say regions near Yeongdong are expected to see 15 more centmeters of snow, while other areas will get five to ten more centimeters. The Korea Meteorological Adminstration has forecast that the snow storms will stop later in the day. |
