영어로 읽는 한국 시 trans. Chang Soo Ko Paper Cranes 강 우 식 Kang, Hyun-Sik, 姜禹植 Between WoljeongsaTemple and Sangwonsa Temple in Mount Odaesan,The fir trees stand upright like the Buddha’s waist. Between Woljeongsa Temple’s stone pagoda and Sangwonsa Temple’sBronze bellsBetween the top of the pagoda that bent aslant while piercing the skies And the bronze bells of the age-old womb of bronzeBetween the main path resembling the lotus posture of the Seon master at Banghanam Hermitage andThe bending paths of his elbow that weathered while reading the scriptures The falling snow brightens the air like sudden enlightenment—The mountains in between are paper cranes made with poster paper,The paper cranes I used to make eagerly through the nightWith you by my side;These days, I get no tidings from you, my beloved, to fold paper cranes together for prayer ceremony.Like the avidya that has totally forgotten how to make the paper cranes,The mind’s snow falls out of its pitch-dark white abyss.Between Woljeonga Temple and Sangwonsa Temple of Mount Odaesan,A thousand cranes are trapped in a glass bottle.The words of the scripture fade to a pure white.The snow that has no more words to utter falls touchingly.I get wet white—more calmly and deeply than the fallen snow.  종이학 강 우 식  오대산 월정사에서 상원사 사이전나무들은 부처님의 허리처럼 곧추서있고월정사 석탑과 상원사 동종 사이하늘을 찌르다 비스듬히 휘어진 탑 끝과천 년 묵은 놋쇠 자궁의 동종 사이방한암 선사의 결가부좌 비슷한 한길과경 읽다 다 닳은 팔꿈치의 굽이길 사이한순간 개명開明하듯 눈 내려 환하다.사이사이 산들은 모조지로 접은 종이학이다.그대가 곁에 있어 예전에는 마음을 모아밤새도록 정갈히 접고 만들었던 종이학.지금은 종이학 접어 빌어줄 그리운 사람도,사람도 아주, 아주 소식줄 끊겨만드는 법도 까마득히 잊은 무명無明같이칠흑의 흰 바탕뿐인 마음눈이 내린다.오대산 월정사에서 상원사 사이유리병 안에 천 마리 학이 갇혔구나.그저 하얗게 저무는 경전의 말씀.하실 말씀 더 없으신 눈이 기막히게 내린다.내린 눈보다 내가 더 조용히 깊고 하얗게 젖는다.
