<오늘의 한 문장>
<기도>
A Heart Free from Resentment
“He then began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.” Matthew 11:20 (NIV)
Jesus did not overlook the sin and stubbornness of the people who had witnessed His mighty works. He called them to repentance. The more grace we receive, the more seriously we should respond to that grace.
At the same time, Jesus teaches His disciples how to respond when they themselves are treated unjustly.
“If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.”
Matthew 5:41 (NIV)
Oswald Chambers reminds us that Jesus does not want even a small trace of resentment to remain in the heart of His disciple when facing tyranny or injustice. This kind of response is not produced by human strength alone. It becomes possible as our relationship with Jesus changes our hearts and our character.
Today is Chuseok, Korea’s harvest festival and family holiday. Families gather around the table, visit relatives, and share food and memories. Yet holidays can also bring old hurts back to the surface. A word spoken years ago, an unresolved conflict, or a painful memory can still remain in our hearts.
So today, let us pray:
“Lord, help me recognize what is wrong without allowing resentment to take root in my heart. Help me remember the grace I have received from You. Rather than proving that I am right, help me reveal the heart of Jesus.”
Jesus rebuked those who refused to repent, yet He also taught His disciples not to live with resentment or revenge. This is an important balance of the gospel: we can stand against sin and injustice without allowing hatred to control our hearts.
Is there someone you still resent today?
Before you try to change that person, bring your own heart before the Lord.
The greatest blessing of this Chuseok is not simply a table filled with good food. It is the grace to release old resentment and learn to love again in Christ.
Today’s Key Thought
“I will remain alert to sin and injustice, but I will not allow resentment to rule my heart. I will choose to respond with the heart of Jesus.”
Prayer
Lord, during this Chuseok, help me examine my heart and my relationships. Help me lay down old hurts, anger, and resentment before You. Teach me to see even those who have hurt me through Your eyes. Help me remember Your grace, forgive as I have been forgiven, and show the heart of Jesus through my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
