8·17 더불어민주당 전당대회를 앞두고 발표된 당대표 적합도 여론조사를 두고 당권 주자들이 상반된 해석을 내놓으며 신경전을 벌이고 있다.

뉴스토마토 의뢰로 여론조사 업체 미디어토마토가 지난 20~21일 전국 만 18세 이상 1036명을 조사해 23일 발표한 조사에서 정청래 전 대표 33.7%, 김민석 전 국무총리 22%, 송영길 의원 11.7%였다. 정 전 대표가 김 전 총리를 오차 범위(±3.0%포인트) 밖에서 앞섰다.

앞서 여론조사 업체인 KSOI가 지난 20~21일 전국 만 18세 이상 1000명을 대상으로 조사한 결과에서도 정 전 대표 25.7%, 김 전 총리 21.5%, 송 의원 11.5%였다. 광주·전라에서도 정 전 대표 34.0%로 김 전 총리(23.1%)를 앞섰다.

김 전 총리와 정 전 대표, 송 의원은 이날 각각 강원과 광주, 경기를 찾았다. 정 전 대표는 전남광주통합특별시의회 광주청사에서 기자회견을 열고 “당심(黨心·당원 표심)이 의심(議心·국회의원 표심)을 이긴다”고 했다. 김 전 총리는 이날 우상호 강원지사와 만나 “대통령의 국정 파트너로서, 2년 후 총선을 안정적으로 이끄는 데도 가장 준비된 후보”라고 했다. 신천지 선거 개입 의혹을 주장해온 김 전 총리는 “조만간 곧 정리해서 (근거를) 밝힐 것”이라고 했다.

Ahead of the Democratic Party of Korea’s August 17 National Convention, candidates are engaged in a war of nerves, offering conflicting interpretations of a recent poll on leadership suitability.

According to a survey commissioned by News Tomato and conducted by Media Tomato on July 20–21 among 1,036 people aged 18 and older nationwide, former Representative Jung Chung-rae received 33.7%, former Prime Minister Kim Min-seok 22%, and Representative Song Young-gil 11.7%.
