The nation's top doctor is calling for new warning labels on alcoholic drinks.
Surgeon General Vivek Murthy says alcohol is a leading cause of cancer, and Americans need to be better informed about the risks with clear labels on drinks.
Hhis advisory comes with research and evidence mounting about alcohol's bad effects on health.
Murthy writes alcohol consumption is to blame for nearly preventable cancer cases in the U.S. the past decade, and that 20,000 people die each year because of those.
He says as people consider whether or how much to drink, they should keep in mind less is better when it comes to cancer risk.
