Power english( A seafood buffet)
A: Has the menu for the Johnson wedding party been finalized yet?
B: The Johnsons want a seafood buffet, but we have a lot of wiggle room because up to a quarter of the guests won't eat seafood.
A: So, first things first, we have to consider seafood allergies. I'll look at the most common allergens among seafood.
B: Right, some people can't even come into contact with certain things.
A: Once we know what won't be on the seafood buffet, we can decide what to order.
B: I guess I'll work on the non-seafood menu items.
A: I told the client that shellfish are the most common seafood people are allergic to. She insisted on crab and shrimp anyway.
B: If we are stuck with shellfish, then let's order crab meat and medium-size shrimp.
A: We can work with that. We'll make baked crab cakes and several shrimp dishes as starters.
B: That's good. I think some people find a table covered in crab shells off putting.
A: What about the fish? I was thinking a sushi bar with both fish and non-fish sushi rolls.
B: That's a great idea!
A: The wedding is in a week. Have you run our ideas by the client?
B: Yes, and she likes the idea of a sushi bar. But she wants mini sushi rolls as hors d'oeuvres also.
A: Did she throw any curveball at you?
B: Sort of. She had some requests from parents who are bringing their children to include fries and chicken tenders.
A: We'll have to serve those directly to the kids. You know the adults will snatch them up if they see them on the buffet.
B: Probably! Who can resist chicken tenders?
A: The seafood delivery arrived!
B: That's music to my ears. I'll get Benji to start de-veining the shrimp and Sandra can prepare the fish.
A: Feel free to help them, I'm working on the chicken, pasta, and vegan dishes with Patrick.
B: I feel like we're forgetting something. Can I see your checklist?
A: We're still waiting for the alcohol delivery, the cake, and the ice sculpture. Other than that, we're golden.
B: I guess those things are out of our hands. Let's get back to work!
A: The guests are arriving. Are the serves and bartenders ready?
B: Yes, and I made it clear to them that the client doesn't want to see empty glasses anywhere.
A: She really made a big deal about empty glasses?
B: Yeah! And we'll be seeing her a lot this evening, so be ready to do whatever she asks of you.
A: Send out the servers with hors d'oeuvres and I'll tell the bartenders to pour some glasses of wine.
B: I don't want to jinx this, but I think tonight is going to be great!
Power english(Gdansk )
A: We only have two days in Gdansk, so let's check in at the hotel and walk to the old town.
B: I know you want to make the most of our time, but we just got off a 9-hour flight.
A: If you want to take it slow and go to the beach, we can do that and then eat out later.
B: No, you're right. We only have two days. Let's go to the Solidarity Museum and then get pierogis.
A: There's also St.Mary's church tower for the amazing view!
B: Let's go!
A: What do you want to do first in Warsaw?
B: Let's visit the Museum of Science and Culture. It's in most famous building in the city.
A: That's a no-brainer. I've been excited to go there since I read the history of it.
B: Tomorrow we should go on a World War II tour of the city. The driver will pick us up at the hotel.
A: We can also do a self-guided walking tour of the old town the day after.
B: We need to have pierogis while we're here, as well as Polish sausage.
A: Look! They offer a car on the train to Krakow that doesn't allow children. It's called the "Quiet Zone"
B: Bear in mind that it probably means we can't talk during the ride.
A: Well, I have to write some emails and you need to update your website, so maybe we should check it out. (a few minutes later)
B: (Whispering) Wow, this is amazing. and it's on the upper level, so we can see everything.
A: See? You shouldn't have written off the Quiet Zone car so quickly.
B: We're moving. I guess Quiet time begins now.
A: I'm glad we're traveling light. The walk from the train station to the hotel was long.
B: I know! Let's check in and go to the old town and have lunch, then later we can take the river cruise on the Vistula.
A: I think it's supposed to rain later. Let's do it another day.
B: That's true. We have four days, so we won't be short on time.
A: Don't forget, we booked a tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau tomorrow.
B: Right! I'll find out if they do river cruises on Saturday then.
