The Explanation of Revelation 1:1-3
What is the meaning of the book of Revelation (Korean: John’s Book of Revelation)? It means that John recorded the revelation. What revelation did he record? He recorded the revelation of Jesus Christ (Rv 1:1). Where? On the island of Patmos. Why did he go there? He was put into exile there for preaching the gospel of Jesus. Who was this John? He was the son of Zebedee, and he was a fisherman (Ref. Mt 4:21).
At the time of the fulfillment of Revelation, God gave this revelation to him (Jesus), and to show His servants what must soon take place (Rv 1:1), what did He do? He gave the sealed book to Jesus in Rv 5, and Jesus, starting from chapter 6, took off all the seals of the book, opened it, and fulfilled the prophecies recorded in this [book]. Then, he gave the opened book to the angel and sent him to New John in Rv 10 and fed it to him.
And what did he do next? He gave instruction to testify what will soon take place. To whom? To New John. What did New John do? He testified the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ of the opened book, that is, everything he saw (Rv 1:2). To whom? To the servants.
- Who are the servants?
- You fool, you fool. They are the sealed 144,000 of Rv 7. Got it? You fool.
- How can the 144,000 be the servants?
- Read Rv 7:3 and see what was said. Got it?
- What is it that John saw?
- What he saw are the actual entities of the prophecies of Rv 1 to Rv 22. Try reading Rv 22:8.
- Who saw them?
- New John.
“Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near (Rv 1:3).” What John recorded when he saw a vision on the island of Patmos are prophecies, and what New John saw, heard, and testified after receiving the instruction (Rv 22:8, 16) are the actual entities that fulfilled the prophecies. Those who believe this will enter the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
