T: If you're offering to teach me, I'll give it a go!
A: Great! I'll bring the ingredients over to your apartment tomorrow./T: I guess that means I need to clean my place tonight!

T: I got everything on the shopping list you gave me. And I have several big bowls and a box of plastic gloves.
A: Then I guess we can dive in and make kimchi./ T: Do you want to do it on the kitchen table or in the sink?
A: As far as I'm concerned, we do this the Korean way or not at all. Make room for the bowls and ingredients on the floor.
T: Okay. Should I find a radio station playing old Korean music?/ A: Umm: ..Maybe we can forgo that part!
T: I know we're going to make cabbage kimchi, but can you teach me how to make another kind as well?
A: As luck would have it. I brought some cucumbers with me to make oi kimchi. But let's start with the cabbage.
T: Okay. So, I should cut these into four pieces and wash them, right?
A: Right! And I'll set up the salt water, the bowls and the other ingredients.
T: What happens if you add too much of something, like fish sauce?/A: Then it's back to square one! So, let's be really careful.
T: Wow, that was more work than I thought. I noticed you didn't use a lot of ginger or fish sauce.
A: Those flavors are really strong, so a little goes a long way.
T: I wrote down step-by-step instructions so I can make it myself next time.
A: If you use that exact recipe, you'll never be disappointed. It's the same way my great grandmother made it.
T: So, you could say it's stood the test of time./A: Just don't tell anyone I gave you my secret family recipe!

C: I can't believe we're hiking the Appalachian Trail it's been a dream of mine for years.
J: Well, the trail doesn't officially start until we reach the summit of Springer Mountain.That's eight miles from here.
C: You're saying that when we set off on our hike, we weren't on the A.T. yet?
J: Yeah, which is why so many people drove out on the first day. it can be pretty disheartening.
C: I think this hike is going to put us through the wringer./ J: Let's try not to think about it.
J: Hey, look The shelter is just up ahead. Should we stop for the day or push on to the next one?
C: I feel like I'm getting a blister. Maybe we should stop for the day and recharge our batteries
J: Sounds good. And while you bandage your foot, I'll make dinner./ C: Oh, no! The shelter looks full already.
J: We might be able to squeeze in there. I see some space in the corner.
C: Hey! There are some people we met earlier. They'll find room for us.
J: What day is it, Chloe?/ C: It's Tuesday. But on terms of how long we've been hiking, it's day 35.
J: According to my map, we'll hit the 500-mile mark on the trail today!
C: If we meet up with some of the other hikers, we can celebrate this milestone.
J: We can indulge in some of the chocolate I bought in the last town we stopped at.
C: You don't happen to have an extra large pepperoni pizza in your bag, do you?
J: I'm so glad the trail leveled out today./C: Is you knee flaring up again? Or is it your back this time?
J: Both! And yo think we're only halfway through the Appalachian Trail.
C: Another 1,100 miles? Let me at least lighten your load for next few miles.
J: Why don't we just camp here for the night? The shelter are starting to fill up with people hiking the A T. from the opposite direction.
C This is a nice spot. We can watch the stars tonight and plan the next 70 days!
