대법관후보추천위원회는 오는 9월 임기 만료로 퇴임하는 이흥구 대법관 후임으로 김문관(62·사법연수원 23기) 부산지법원장과 김성수(57·24기) 서울고법 부장판사, 김예영(51·30기) 서울남부지법 부장판사, 김정중(60·26기) 광주지법 부장판사를 조희대 대법원장에게 추천했다고 4일 밝혔다. 4명 모두 현직 법관이다.

김문관 법원장은 32년 법관 경력 중 20년 이상을 부산 법원에서 근무했다. 대법원 재판연구관 출신인 김 법원장은 지방변호사회에서 12년 연속 우수법관으로 선정되기도 했다. 김성수 부장판사는 법원행정처 윤리감사제1담당관 등을 역임해 재판과 사법행정 모두에 밝다는 평가를 받는다. 여성 후보인 김예영 부장판사는 작년 진보 성향 법관들이 주도하는 전국법관대표회의 의장으로 활동했다. 김정중 부장판사도 대법원 재판연구관 출신으로 서울중앙지법원장을 지냈다.

조희대 대법원장은 이들 중 최종 후보자 1명을 이재명 대통령에게 임명 제청할 예정이다. 조희대 대법원장은 지난 3월 퇴임한 노태악 전 대법관의 후임으로 손봉기(60·22기) 대구지법 부장판사, 윤성식(57·24기) 서울고법 부장판사, 박순영(59·25기) 서울고법 고법판사, 김민기(55·26기) 수원고법 고법판사가 추천됐지만, 최종 후보를 결정하지 않았다. 이날 조 대법원장은 “앞으로 합쳐서 열심히 잘 해보겠다”고 했다. 노태악 전 대법관 후임까지 2명의 후보를 제청하겠다는 뜻으로 풀이된다.
