In today’s passage, we see that the faith of the disciples and the people is starting to show its weakness. The fact that the disciples couldn’t cast out the demon highlights that this is a problem for everyone. That’s why both the boy’s father and the disciples are referred to as an "unbelieving and perverted generation." When Jesus speaks of this "generation," He is also including us today.
The word "perverted" refers to a faith that is twisted and distorted. It means a faith that doesn’t accept the Word as it is but filters it, adding or subtracting according to one’s own preference. It’s a distorted attitude toward the Word.
Anyone who believes in Jesus should receive the Holy Spirit in His name, cast out demons, heal the sick, and live following Jesus.
Jesus is the King of kings. Stand in His line. Live in Him.
