키 큰 대나무가 머리부터 휘청 거리고 있었다.

잠시 어수선한 가운데

during a short span of pleasant chaos,

뭔가 조금씩 떨어져 나가고 있었다.

가벼워진 만큼 흐름이 생기기 시작했고

안개(霧)는 낮은 골짜기(溪)를 덮을 수 있어 그윽하고 평온하다.

노자는 골짜기는 항상 비어있고 차는 일이 없으며 낮은 곳에 위치해 모든 냇물이 모여든다고 했다. 그러면서 골짜기 한가운데 빈곳에 곡신(谷神)이 있어, 낮은 곳에 머물며 고요함을 지켜 만물이 그로 인해 이루어지나 그 형상을 보이지 않으니 지극한 존재라고 했다.

그것(谷神)은 불가사의하고 미묘한 여성성(Anima)과 같으며, 만물이 생성되어 나오는 문이며, 천지만물의 뿌리와 같은 것이다.

분석심리학에서 빈 골짜기는 무의식과 같아서

인간의 모든 의식현상의 뿌리이며, 끊임없는 정신활동의 원천인 집단무의식을 상징한다고 본다.

그곳은 단순한 공허가 지배하는 곳이 아니라 무한한 생성의 가능성을...
