강훈식 대통령비서실장이 29일 ‘대통령 연임 개헌’ 관련 논란에 대해 “대통령이 불가하다고 하셨는데도 대통령을 정치적인 논쟁으로 끌어들이기 위해 사용하고 있어 매우 강한 유감”이라고 밝혔다.

강 실장은 이날 오전 춘추관에서 기자들과 만나 연임 개헌 논란과 관련해 “헌법 체계가 허용하지 않고, 국민도 쉽게 용인하지 않을 것이며 현실적으로 불가능하다고 이재명 대통령이 대선 후보 신분 당시 말씀하셨다”고 했다. 이어 “개인 생각을 덧붙이면 헌법 제128조 제2항은 앞으로도 흔들리지 말아야 한다고 생각한다”며 “우리가 지켜야 할 역사적 합의”라고 강조했다. 현행 헌법 제128조 2항은 ‘대통령의 임기 연장이나 중임 변경을 위한 개헌은 개헌안 제안 당시 대통령에게 효력이 없다’고 명시돼 있다.
