느브갓네살의 마지막 기사 다음 벨사살의 기사를 다루시는 하나님의 의도를 깨닫다

(단5:13-31)
13 So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, "Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?  14 I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.  15 The wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me what it means, but they could not explain it.  16 Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom."  17 Then Daniel answered the king, "You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means.  18 "O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor.  19 Because of the high position he gave him, all the peoples and nations and men of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled.  20 But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.  21 He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like cattle; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone he wishes.  22 "But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.  23 Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.  24 Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.  25 "This is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN  26 "This is what these words mean: Mene : God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.  27 Tekel : You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.  28 Peres : Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."  29 Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.  30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain,  31 and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.

그 일이 마무리진 후 파사의 고레스2세 왕은 바벨론의 통치권을 메데의 다리오(시악사레스 2세) 왕에게 양보를 한다

어찌 대국(大國)을 두고 양보(讓步)를 할 수 있지? 하는 생각을 할 수 있지만
이는 고레스2세의 지혜(智慧)에서 비롯된 것
다리오가 바벨론의 통치권을 양보 받았을 때의 나이가 62세
한마디로 그냥 내버려 둬도 죽음을 얼마 남겨놓지 않은 상황
게다가 아들이 없다는 점
고레스와는 삼촌 조카사이 였다는 점

이러한 관계를 통해서 
다리오의 딸 카산다네와의 결혼을 통해
자연스럽게 메데+파사의 왕권 및 바벨론의 그것까지 쥘 수 있다는 계산을 한 고레스
바벨론의 마지막 왕 나보니두스의 방임회피적(放任回避的) 제국통치 + 아버지를 대신하여 통치했던 벨사살의 방탕(放蕩) 안일무사주의적(安逸無事主義的) 통치(統治)로 말미암은 이미 마음이 그에게서 떠난 백성들의 심리를 인식(認識)
아마도 정권이 바뀌었으면 하는 그런 마음이 무르익었음의 기회를 고레스는 놓치지 않았기에
무혈입성(無血入城) 벨사살을 죽임으로 인하여 백성들의 마음을 시원하게 했고
그러나 그의 아버지 나보니두스에게는 
즉사처분(卽死處分) 대신에  페르시아 제국의 카르마니아(Carmania) 지역 (현재 이란 남동부의 케르만주 일대)의 봉신(지방관 또는 통치자)으로 임명 BC522년 자연사(自然死)할 때까지 17년동안 그 생명을 연장해 주는 자비(慈悲)를 베풂으로 
바벨론 백성들에게 선(善)한 인상을 주면서 저항성(抵抗性)을 최소화(最小化)하는데 성공(成功)
결국 메대(Media), 엘람(Elam), 리디아(Lydia) 파사 모두를 하나가 되게 하여 튼튼한 한마디로 튼튼한 통일바벨론 이라는 강성대국(强盛大國)을 이루었음을 본다

오늘의 말씀 벨사살의 오만무례향연(傲慢無禮饗宴) 그의 피살(被殺)이
느브갓네살의 일곱 때 기사 이후에 다루셨다는 점에서
하나님은 지나온 역사를 교훈삼지 않는 인간과 나라가 어떠한 결과를 맞이하게 되는지...
하나님의 섭리의 흐름이 어떻게 진행되는지를 
보여주고 싶어 하심을 보게된다

특별히 22절 ‘...O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself’라는 부분에서
겸손(謙遜 humble) 의 의미는
하나님을 존숭(尊崇) 
하나님의 말씀에 순복(順服)하는 것임을 
알게한다

오늘의 말씀을 통해서
오늘날까지 내게 베푸신 하나님의 은혜은총긍휼자비복(恩惠恩寵矜恤慈悲福)을 생각하면서
‘더’ 라고 하는 욕심(慾心)을 버리고
그저 인간적으로는 이름 없이 빛도 없이 나의 끝을 맞이한다 할지라도
순복(順服) 해야 하겠다는 마음을 다시금 다잡는다
