They witnessed the miracles and heard the teachings of Jesus, yet they still ask for a sign. What greater sign could there be than Jesus Himself? These people are incapable of seeing any sign. When one harbors an evil heart, no word will satisfy them, and no sign from God will be enough. They seek yet another sign, but evil is only satisfied by more evil. Therefore, do not become wicked.
Jesus says the only sign He will give is the sign of Jonah. Jonah was thrown into the sea, swallowed by a fish, and came back to life—a story of resurrection. The story Jesus wants to reveal is also about death and resurrection. All the signs in the Bible, whether from Daniel, David, or Joseph, are fulfilled in Jesus.
What we need now is to listen to the Word, and through this Word, see the prophecies about Jesus and their fulfillment. And, just as the Queen of Sheba came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, we must also seek the Word to hear it.
