When I look back on my life, I realize that I have never really had a specific role model. But one day, I suddenly thought, “Since I am working hard toward my dream, shouldn’t I have at least one role model?” So, through this English class, I decided to find one.

That’s when I discovered Nicolaus Copernicus. He completely changed the way people understand the universe, and I was deeply impressed by his courage and perseverance. I decided to make him my role model.

Copernicus is famous for the heliocentric theory, which proposes that the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun. At that time, most people believed in the geocentric model, which put the Earth at the center of the universe. His ideas were revolutionary and risky, but his book, De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, laid the foundation for modern astronomy.

What I admire most about him is his dedication and persistence. Even while working as a church administrator, he spent many years observing and calculating the movements of planets. He did not rush to publish his ideas and only released his book near the end of his life, showing patience and careful consideration for the impact of his work.

I often take the easy path in life, but learning about Copernicus made me reflect on my own efforts. He followed his curiosity and passion, even when others did not recognize his work. This taught me to focus on what I truly value and to keep pursuing my dreams, rather than worrying too much about immediate recognition or other people’s opinions.

Copernicus’ life shows that great achievements require long-term perseverance and the courage to challenge established beliefs. I hope to follow his example, facing difficulties without giving up and staying committed to the path I believe in.
