A steward is a servant who is responsible for managing all the other servants. The steward acts as their "manager," and they are instructed to be wise and faithful. If they do this, not only the disciples but everyone will be blessed and will inherit everything from the master. Though the master is God, the steward will receive everything that belongs to the master. In other words, when God promises to give us His kingdom, He, the Master, is giving us the entirety of His kingdom.
If God has given us His Son, what would He withhold from us? Since He promised to give us the Holy Spirit, which is the most precious gift, isn't His kingdom a natural extension of that?
From verse 45 onward, the steward represents a servant acting as the master, and this message is directed toward pastors and church workers. Jesus says that He will come on a day when they do not expect Him. Throughout life, we must not boast about how much we have done for God. No matter how much we have done, it is nothing compared to God’s grace, and speaking in such a way is evil in itself. Since we do not know when Jesus will return, it is wrong to justify ourselves by our own standards.
Those with intentional wrongdoing will receive severe punishment. To whom much is given, much will be required, and from those entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
