김윤덕 국토교통부 장관은 26일 오세훈 서울시장과 면담에 앞서 취재진으로부터 추가 신규택지에 용산이 포함되지 않느냐는 질문을 받고 "원래 용산은 들어가지 않았다"고 답했다.

7만3천가구가 경기도 내 택지로만 채워지느냐는 질문에는 구체적으로 말하기 어렵다며 "천천히 기다려보자는 것"이라고 말했다.

정부는 지난 8·13 대책에서 서울 강서·경기 남양주·경기 광주 3개 지역에 신규 택지를 조성해 2030년까지 2만7천가구를 착공한다는 계획을 발표했다. 이뿐 아니라 '7만3천가구+α' 규모의 추가 신규 택지도 관련 행정절차를 거쳐 이르면 9월 말 발표하겠다고 밝혔다.

추가 택지에는 서울 서초구 내곡동 예비군훈련장, 강남구 세곡·자곡동, 수서차량기지, 송파구 방이동 올림픽선수촌 인근 등 서울 내 그린벨트도 후보군으로 거론됐으나 서울시가 그린벨트 해제를 통한 주택 공급에 완강히 반대하는 입장이라 실현 가능성은 불투명하다는 관측이 나왔다.

정부는 용산 어린이정원을 비롯한 용산공원 내 본체 부지도 주택 공급에 활용하는 쪽으로 검토 중이나 이 역시 서울시의 반대에 부딪힌 상황이다.

이 같은 국면에서 추가 신규택지는 경기도 위주로 구성될 가능성이 흘러 나온다.

국토부 관계자는 김 장관 언급에 대해 "(추가 택지) 7만3천가구에 서울이 들어가지 않을 수 있다는 가능성에 대해 장관이 말씀하신 것"이라고 설명했다.

SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Yonhap) -- Land Minister Kim Yun-duk said Wednesday the government's plan to provide additional housing by developing greenbelt areas will be limited to Gyeonggi Province, amid differences with the Seoul city government over housing supply measures in the capital.

Kim made the remarks in response to questions over whether the ministry's upcoming plan to supply 73,000 new housing units would include sites in Seoul, ahead of a meeting with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to discuss housing supply in the capital and surrounding areas.
​
"The 73,000 housing units will be supplied in Gyeonggi Province," Kim told reporters, effectively ruling out greenbelt areas in Seoul from the government's upcoming housing development plan.

Earlier this month, the government announced plans to begin construction of 27,000 homes by 2030 through new housing development projects in Gangseo in western Seoul, as well as Namyangju and Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province.

The land ministry also said it plans to announce additional development sites capable of accommodating more than 73,000 homes in late September, prompting speculation that underutilized land or greenbelt areas in Seoul could be included.
​
The government's broader housing supply push, however, has faced questions over its feasibility amid opposition from the Seoul city government to developing environmentally protected greenbelt areas.
​
Kim's meeting with Oh was expected to focus on housing supply measures and ways to bridge differences between the central and Seoul governments.
​
Oh, who is affiliated with the main opposition People Power Party, has also openly opposed the government's proposal to build homes in Yongsan Park in central Seoul.
