一.世主妙嚴品

1. The Wonderful Adornments of the Leaders of the Worlds

七, 大衆의 得法과 讚佛 함께한 대중들이 부처님의 덕을 찬탄하다.

2, 十廻向位衆십회향위(十廻向位)를 표한 대중들이 찬탄하다

(1) 第十廻向의 日天子

제 10회향을 표한 일천자가 찬탄하다.

가, 天子衆의 得法일천자와 그 대중들이 얻은 법

復次日天子는 得淨光普照十方衆生하야 盡未來劫常爲利益解脫門하고 光焰眼天子는 得以一切隨類身으로 開悟衆生하야 令入智慧海解脫門하고

Furthermore, Sun Godling had found the door of liberation of pure light shining on the sentient beings of the ten directions, always benefiting them forever and ever. The deity Light Flame Eyes found the door of liberation enlightening sentient beings through the agency of all corresponding bodies, causing them to enter the ocean of wisdom. <Thomas Cleary-번역본>

Moreover, Celestial Prince Sun gained a passage into liberation of universally radiating pure light on sentient beings of the ten directions, constantly benefiting them to the ends of time. The deity Polar Mountain Light Joy Banner found the door of liberation of being the leader of all sentient beings and having them diligently cultivate boundless pure qualities. Celestial Prince Sumeru-Light Banner of Happiness gained a passage into liberation of acting as lord of all sentient beings, causing them to diligently cultivate boundless, pure merit and virtue. 勇猛不退轉天子는 得無礙光普照하야 令一切衆生으로 益其精爽解脫門하고 妙華纓光明天子는 得淨光普照衆生身하야 令生歡喜信解海解脫門하고

The deity Nonregressing Courage found the door of liberation of unhindered light shining everywhere causing all beings to increase in purity and clarity. Supreme Banner Light found the door of liberation of light illuminating all worlds, causing them to perfect various wonderful qualities. Celestial Prince Supreme Banner Light gained a passage into liberation of universally shining light on beings in the world, so that they successfully complete all kinds of wonderful, meritorious deeds. 光明眼天子는 得淨治一切衆生眼하야 令見法界藏解脫門하고 持德天子는 得發生淸淨相續心하야 令不失壞解脫門하고

Celestial Prince Bright Eyes gained a passage into liberation of cleansing and healing the eyes of all sentient beings, enabling them to see the treasury of the Dharma Realm. 普運行光明天子는 得普運日宮殿하야 照十方一切衆生하야 令成就所作業解脫門하시니라

The deity Universal Light found the door of liberation carrying the palace of the sun all over, shining on all sentient beings of the ten directions, allowing them to accomplish their work.<Thomas Cleary-번역본>

보운행광명(普運行光明) 천자는 해의 궁전을 널리 운전해서 시방의 모든 중생을 비추어 짓는 업을 성취케 하는 해탈문을 얻었다.

나, 偈頌讚歎일천자의 찬탄

爾時에 日天子가 承佛威力하사 普觀一切日天子衆하고 而說頌言하사대

At that time Sun Godling, imbued with the Buddha's power, surveyed all the sun deities and said in verse,<Thomas Cleary-번역본>

The Buddha's great light of knowledge

Illumines all lands in the ten directions:

All sentient beings can see the Buddha's

모든 중생들이 부처님의

The Thus Come One's tremendous light of wisdom

Universally illumines the lands of the ten directions.

All sentient beings see the Buddha.

如來色相無有邊이라 隨其所樂悉現身하사

普爲世間開智海하시니 焰眼如是觀於佛이로다

The forms of the Buddha are boundless,

Appearing to all according to their inclinations,

Opening up the ocean of knowledge for all worlds:

그 좋아함을 따라서 몸을 나타내사

널리 세간을 위하여 지혜의 바다를 여시니

He manifests a body commensurate with the likes of sentient beings,

Opening everywhere the ocean of wisdom for all in the world:

佛身無等無有比라 光明照耀徧十方하사

超過一切最無上하시니 如是法門歡喜得이로다

The Buddha-body is peerless, it has no compare;

Its light shines throughout the ten directions,

Transcending all, supremely unexcelled:

부처님의 몸은 같은 이도 없고 비할 데도 없어

광명이 밝게 비쳐 시방에 두루 하사

모든 것을 뛰어 넘어 가장 높으시니

The Buddha's body is peerless and beyond compare.

His resplendent light floods the ten directions,

爲利世間修苦行하사 往來諸有無量劫이로대

光明徧淨如虛空하시니 寶月能知此方便이로다

Practicing austerities to benefit the world,

Traversing all realms of existence for countless ages,

His light is everywhere as pure as space:

以法滋味益群生하시니 勇猛能知此方便이로다

The Buddha speaks the wondrous sound without obstacle―

It pervades all lands in the ten directions,

Benefiting the living with the flavor of truth:

부처님이 묘음을 연설하사 장애가 없음이여

널리 시방의 여러 국토에 두루 하여

법의 자미(滋味)로써 중생을 이익케 하시니

용맹천자가 이 방편을 알았네

放光明網不思議여 普淨一切諸含識하사

悉使發生深信解케하시니 此華纓天所入門이로다

Emanating inconceivable nets of light,

Everywhere purifying all conscious beings,

He causes them to engender profound faith:

광명의 그물을 놓아 부사의함이여

All the lights in the world

Cannot match the light of a single pore of the Buddha―

This is how inconceivable the Buddha's light is:

세간에 있는 모든 광명이

부처님의 한 털구멍 광명보다 못해

부처님의 광명 이처럼 부사의함이니

All the lights in the world

Do not equal the light within a single pore of the Buddha.

The Buddha's light is just this inconceivable:

令非道者住於道케하시니 寶髻光明如是見이로다

The way of all Buddhas is thus:

They all sit under the tree of enlightenment

And bring the errant to the right path:

다 보리수 아래 앉으사

도(道)에 이르지 못한 자를 도에 머물게 하시니

The Dharma of all Buddhas is thus:

They sit beneath the Bodhi, king of trees,

Causing those who stray to abide in the path.

衆生盲闇愚癡苦여       佛欲令其生淨眼이라

是故爲然智慧燈하시니 善目於此深觀察이로다

Sentient beings are blind, ignorant, and suffering―

The Buddha wants to make them produce a pure eye,

And so lights the lamp of wisdom for them:

중생들의 눈멀고 어리석은 고통을 살펴

부처님이 그들에게 깨끗한 눈이 생기게 함이라

Sentient beings are blind, dark, and trapped in woeful ignorance.

The Buddha bids them to open their eyes of purity.

解脫方便自在尊을         若有曾見一供養이라도

悉使修行至於果케하시니 此是德天方便力이로다

Honored master of liberating techniques―

If any see him and make an offering,

He causes them to cultivate practice and reach the result:

해탈의 방편이 자재하신 분을

모든 수행이 성과(聖果)에 이르게 하시니

Liberated, expedient, Honored One of ease and comfort.

If sentient beings but see him once and make offerings to him,

They are caused to cultivate unto fruition:

一法門中無量門을 無量千劫如是說하시니

所演法門廣大義여 普運光天之所了로다

In one teaching there are many aspects―

For countless ages he teaches this way.

The far-reaching meanings of the teachings expounded
