Wondering and wandering around, and vice versa – my career to this day was dictated by these two terms. And my resume probably reflects this confusion on my part - E-Land, a fashion company, the Boston Consulting Group, a strategy management company, a Web-agency and now an educational consulting company. Many would wonder what these have in common.
“Worse yet,” I now want to become the head of the Anything Global Consulting Inc.
On a second glance, my career path to this day holds relevance to my long-term goal. At the E-Land, I saw many vendors with good know-how and the latest clothing making technologies fail due to lack of money. At the Web-agency, I saw many Korean professionals who could not package their messages just right. And while at the educational consulting company, I understood why: My company, geared mostly towards the MBA applicants, many of whom are sponsored by their companies, many of them, leading companies in Korea, to become the next CEOs, CFOs and top notch decision-makers, simply could not package their own stories, just right either. If they cannot package their own stories, I doubt whether they can package for others.
Meanwhile, my years at the BCG taught me how to package right.
Now, I want to leverage all these experiences and lessons learned along the way to help Korean companies to handle any kind of global business that may come along their way, whether it is to ally with a foreign company, to sell a good technology overseas for the right price, to sign a contract with favorable terms or conditions, to enter into an overseas market, I want my company to help any company, whether big or small to conduct business with the world.
My consulting company, I don’t want it to be too big. About 100 people-strong organization, will do. Good lawyers, good management consultants and good sales people in three continents will suffice.
