고난과 역경을 극복하는 신앙 (빌 1:12-18)

Faith to overcome suffering and adversity (Philippians 1: 12-18)

빌 1:12-18 형제들아 내가 당한 일이 도리어 복음 전파에 진전이 된 줄을 너희가 알기를 원하노라. 13) 이러므로 나의 매임이 그리스도 안에서 모든 시위대 안과 그 밖의 모든 사람에게 나타났으니 14) 형제 중 다수가 나의 매임으로 말미암아 주 안에서 신뢰함으로 겁 없이 하나님의 말씀을 더욱 담대히 전하게 되었느니라. 15) 어떤 이들은 투기와 분쟁으로, 어떤 이들은 착한 뜻으로 그리스도를 전파하나니 16) 이들은 내가 복음을 변증하기 위하여 세우심을 받은 줄 알고 사랑으로 하나 17) 그들은 나의 매임에 괴로움을 더하게 할 줄로 생각하여 순수하지 못하게 다툼으로 그리스도를 전파하느니라. 18) 그러면 무엇이냐 겉치레로 하나 참으로 하나 무슨 방도로 하든지 전파되는 것은 그리스도니 이로써 나는 기뻐하고 또한 기뻐하리라.

(Php 1:12-18) I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13) so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14) And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15) Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16) The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17) The former proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18) What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,

1895년 미국 남부 앨라배마주는 비통한 슬픔에 잠겼다.

In 1895, Alabama, in the southern United States, was lost in grief

목화재배로 유명한 이곳에 갑자기 목화바구미가 들끓기 시작했다.

The cotton weevil started to appear in this famous place for cotton cultivation.

목화수확은 절반으로 줄었고 설상가상으로 전염병까지 나돌았다.

Cotton harvests have been cut in half and even worse, the epidemic happened.

도시는 삽시간에 실직자들과 결식자들의 탄식소리에 휩싸였다.

The city was overwhelmed by the sighs of the unemployed and the absentee.

그때 일단의 농민들이 팔을 걷어붙이고 나섰다.

Then a group of farmers rolled out their sleeves.

그들은 밭에서 목화를 뽑아내고 그곳에 땅콩을 심었다.

They plucked cotton from the field and planted peanuts there.

농부들은 ‘절망의 땅’에 ‘희망의 씨앗’을 심었다.

Farmers planted 'seed of hope' in 'land of despair'.

20년 후, 이곳은 ‘땅콩의 수도’로 불릴 만큼 풍요로운 도시로 변모했다.

Twenty years later, it was transformed into a city rich enough to be called the “Peanut Capital”.

엔터프라이즈 마을 입구에 세워진 목화바구미 기념탑에는 다음과 같은 글이 적혀 있다.

The following text is written on the Cotton Weevil Monument built at the entrance to the Enterprise Village.

“우리는 목화바구미에 감사한다. 그 날의 시련이 없었더라면 우리는 오늘의 풍요를 누릴 수 없었을 것이다. 목화벌레여, 그대들이 준 고난에 감사하노라”

“We are grateful for the cotton weevil. Without that day's trials, we would not have been able to enjoy today's abundance. Cottonworm, thank you for the hardships you have given. "

성경의 야고보서 1장은 우리에게 말한다.

James 1 tells us.

(약 1:2-3) 내 형제들아 너희가 여러 가지 시험을 당하거든 온전히 기쁘게 여기라. 3) 이는 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어 내는 줄 너희가 앎이라

(약 1:12) 시험을 참는 자는 복이 있나니 이는 시련을 견디어 낸 자가 주께서 자기를 사랑하는 자들에게 약속하신 생명의 면류관을 얻을 것이기 때문이라

Jms 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,

Jms 1:3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

Jms 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

우리의 인생은 때때로 황무지 같은 환경을 만날 때가 있습니다.

Our life sometimes encounters a wasteland-like environment.

건강으로 인하여 황무지 같은 가정을 만날 수가 있습니다.

Due to your health, you may encounter a family like a wasteland.

경제적 궁핍으로 인하여 황무지 같은 직장을 만날 수도 있습니다.

Due to economic hardship, you may encounter jobs like the wasteland.

풀 수 없는 복잡한 인간관계로 인하여 신앙생활에 황무지 같은 척박한 환경이나 사람을 만날 때도 있습니다.

Due to intricate relationships that cannot be solved, there are times when people meet in a barren environment such as a wasteland in their religious lives.

그러면 우리가 어떻게 황무지 같은 환경에서도 고난과 역경을 극복하고, 장미꽃을 피울 수 있겠습니까?
So how can we overcome hardships and adversity and bloom roses in a wasteland environment?

1. 고난과 역경을 진보의 기회로 삼아야 합니다.(12)
1. Suffering and adversity should be used as opportunities for progress. (12)

인생은 항상 봄만 있는 것이 아닙니다. 항상 푸른 초장만 있는 것이 아닙니다.

Life isn't always about spring. It is not always the blue grass.

때로는 황무지 같은 역경이 찾아오는 것입니다. 때로는 엄청난 고난이 찾아옵니다.

Sometimes an adversity like a wasteland comes. Sometimes great hardships come.

어느 날, 질병, 경제의 위기, 실패, 인간관계의 갈등, 가정 파탄, 직장 생활의 어려움 등이 반갑지 않은 손님처럼 나에게 찾아올 수 있습니다.

One day, diseases, economic crises, failures, conflicts in relationships, family breakdown, and difficulties in working life can come to you like unwelcome guests.

고난과 역경을 만나면 그것 때문에 주저앉는 사람들이 있습니다.

When you encounter hardship and adversity, there are people who slump because of it.

그런가 하면, 고난과 역경 때문에 오히려 더 진보하는 사람들도 있습니다.
Some are more advanced because of hardship and adversity.

오늘 성경에 나오는 바울은 고난과 역경으로 인하여 더 진보하는 사람이었습니다.

Paul in the Bible today was a more advanced person because of hardship and adversity.

오늘 12절 말씀을 보십시오.

Look at verse 12 today.

빌 1:12 형제들아 내가 당한 일이 도리어 복음 전파에 진전이 된 줄을 너희가 알기를 원하노라.

(Php 1:12) I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel,

바울은 자신이 당한 일이 오히려 복음의 진보가 되었다고 말씀합니다.

Paul says that what he did was rather a progress in the gospel.

바울이 당한 일이 무엇입니까? 13,14절을 보십시오.

What happened to Paul? See verses 13, 14.

빌 1:13,14 이러므로 나의 매임이 그리스도 안에서 모든 시위대 안과 그 밖의 모든 사람에게 나타났으니 14) 형제 중 다수가 나의 매임으로 말미암아 주 안에서 신뢰함으로 겁 없이 하나님의 말씀을 더욱 담대히 전하게 되었느니라.

Php 1:13-14 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14) And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

바울이 로마 감옥에 갇힌 것입니다.

Paul was imprisoned in Roman prison.

복음을 전하는 그에게 있어서는 최악의 환경입니다.

It was the worst environment for him to preach the gospel.

어떤 사람들은 바울의 투옥을 보며 다 끝났다고 생각했을 것입니다.

Some would have thought that it was all over while seeing Paul's imprisonment.

바울은 괴롭고 고통스러운 환경을 복음의 진보를 위한 것이라고 생각하였습니다.(12)

Paul thought the painful environment was for the advancement of the gospel.(12)

그것이 오히려 복음을 전파하는데 도움이 되었다고 고백하고 있습니다.

He confesses that it has helped spread the gospel.

바울은 복음 전파의 새로운 국면을 맞이할 기회가 되었음을 고백합니다.

Paul confesses that it is an opportunity to face a new phase of preaching the gospel.

바울은 괴롭고 고통스러운 환경속에서 두가지 진보가 나타났습니다.
Paul made two advances in a painful environment.

첫째는 바울의 매임이 죄를 져서가 아니라 그리스도를 전하다가 갇혔습니다.

First, Paul's imprisonment was not because he made sin, but imprisoned while preaching Christ.

그런데 바울이 그렇게 옥에 갇히자 바울의 이름이 널리 알려지게 되어 2년 동안 옥에 있으면서 많은 사람을 만나며 만나는 사람에게 복음을 전하게 되었습니다(13)

However, when Paul was imprisoned, Paul's name became widely known, and while he was in prison for two years, he met many people and preached the gospel to those he met (13)

바울이 갇힌 시위대는 황제의 친위부대였습니다.

The protesters to whom Paul was imprisoned were the emperor's guard.

그가 이런 곳에 있었기 때문에 그는 로마의 핵심 실력자들에게 복음을 전할 수 있었습니다.

Because he was here, he was able to preach the Gospel to key Roman talents.

그리고 제국을 복음화 하는 기반을 닦을 수 있었던 것입니다.

And it was able to lay the foundation for evangelizing the empire.

빌4:22절을 보십시오.

See Philippians 4:22.

빌 4:22 모든 성도들이 너희에게 문안하되 특히 가이사의 집 사람들 중 몇이니라

Php 4:22 All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar's household.

이미 황제의 궁정에 전도의 거점을 확보했다는 것을 알 수 있습니다.

You can see that the emperor's court has been already secured as a base for evangelism.

이보다 더 큰 성과가 어디에 있겠습니까?

Where would there be a bigger achievement?

당시 죄수들을 지키는 군인들은 6시간마다 교대했답니다.

At that time, the soldiers guarding the prisoners shifted every six hours.

그렇다면 바울은 최소한 하루에 4사람 이상 전도할 수 있는 기회를 얻을 수 있었고 그 일을 적어도 2년 간 계속할 수 있었으니 이 얼마나 좋은 기회입니까?

If so, what a great opportunity Paul had at least 4people to evangelize a day and to continue the work for at least two years.

그는 죄수의 몸이 되었지만 그 환경을 오히려 진보의 기회로 활용하여 복음을 전하였습니다.
He became the body of a prisoner, but he used the environment as an opportunity for progress, and he preached the Gospel.

둘째는 바울이 감옥에 갇히는 사건이 성도들에게 복음을 전할 수 있는 담력을 주었습니다.(14)

Second, Paul's imprisonment gave him the courage to preach the Gospel. (14)

빌 1:14 형제 중 다수가 나의 매임으로 말미암아 주 안에서 신뢰함으로 겁 없이 하나님의 말씀을 더욱 담대히 전하게 되었느니라.

Php 1:14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

바울이 감옥에 갇힌 사건은 하나의 간증이 되어 성도들에게 희망과 용기를 주었습니다.

Paul's imprisonment turned into testimony, giving hope and courage to the Saints.

신실한 성도들은 바울이 그 어려운 환경 속에서도 복음을 전하는 간증을 듣고, 그들도 담대하게 하나님의 말씀을 전하게 되었습니다.

Sincere church members heard Paul's testimony of preaching the gospel even in difficult circumstances, and they boldly preached the word of God.

우리는 어떤 고난과 역경을 만나든 그것을 퇴보의 기회가 아니라 진보의 기회로 활용해야 합니다.

No matter what hardships and adversities we encounter, we should use it as an opportunity for progress, not an opportunity for regression.

신앙의 인물들이 그랬습니다. 모세에게도 위기와 역경의 순간이 있었습니다.

People of faith did. Moses also had a moment of crisis and adversity.

다윗에게도 고통스러운 시간이 있었습니다.

David also had a painful time.

그러나 그들은 모두 인내하며 퇴보하지 않고 진보의 기회로 삼았습니다.

But they all endured and did not regress, but made it an opportunity for progress.

어려움이 올 때 실패했을 때 고난이 닥쳐왔을 때 해석을 잘해야 합니다.

You must interpret well when hardship comes when hardship fails.

한번 실패로 그것이 인생의 끝이 아닙니다.

With one failure, it is not the end of life.

실패란 인생의 위대한 스승이지, 무덤이 아닙니다.

Failure is a great teacher in life, not a grave.

실패할 때는 실패할 수 밖에 없는 시기라고 인정하고, 하나님의 때를 바라보아야 합니다.

When we fail, we must admit that it is a time when we have to fail, and we must look at God's time.

하나님은 고난과 역경의 과정을 통해, 우리를 진보의 자리로 나아가게 하십니다.
God, through a process of hardship and adversity, moves us to a place of progress;

미국의 대통령이었던 투루먼은 38세이던 1922년에 많은 빚을 지고, 일자리를 찾지 못한 실업자였습니다.

the President of the United States, Truman, was a 38-year-old unemployed who owed a lot of debt and failed to find a job.

그러나 1945년, 미국 대통령이 되면서, 자유세계에서 가장 힘있는 지도자가 되었습니다.

However, in 1945, as President of the United States, he became the most powerful leader in the free world.

만약 그가 실패를 영원한 것으로 보고, 곤경에서 빠져 나오지 못한 채 주저앉았다면 그는 결코 실패를 진보의 기회로 활용하지 못했을 것입니다.

If he saw failure as eternal and sat down without getting out of trouble, he would never have used it as an opportunity for progress.

죠지 워싱턴은 그가 치룬 전쟁 중에서 2/3는 패배했습니다.

George Washington lost two-thirds of the war he fought.

그러나 그는 마침내 전쟁을 이기므로 대통령이 되었습니다.
However, he finally won the war and became president.

암흙같은 황무지가 있습니까? 퇴보의 기회가 아니라 진보의 기회로 삼으시기 바랍니다.

Is there a rocky wasteland? Please use it as an opportunity for progress, not a chance for regression.

나의 당한 일이 질병일 수도 있습니다. 경제적 어려움일 수도 있습니다.

My suffering may be a disease. It may be an economic hardship.

바울과 같이 감옥에 갇히는 것일 수도 있습니다. 부부사이에 찾아온 위기일 수도 있습니다.

It could be like being in prison like Paul. It may be a crisis that came between couples.

자녀의 탈선일 수도 있습니다. 인간관계의 풀리지 않는 사슬일 수도 있습니다.

It may be your child's derailment. It may be an unresolved chain of relationships.

그러나 그 모든 것은 복음의 진보의 기회로 활용하시기 바랍니다.
However, please use all of them as opportunities to advance the gospel.

2. 고난과 역경을 만나면 핵심가치에 집중해야합니다.(18)
2. When you encounter hardship and adversity, you must focus on the core values. (18)

우아함을 좋아하는 여성 중에는 화장품을 피부보다 더 사랑하는 사람들이 있습니다.

Some women love cosmetics more than their skin.

피부가 핵심가치입니다. 화장품은 주변가치에 불과한 것입니다.

Skin is the core value. Cosmetics are only a side value.

피부보다 더 중요한 것은 생명입니다.

More important than skin is life.

화장품은 피부를 보존하고 피부를 건강하게 하는데 쓰임 받는 보조품에 불과합니다.
Cosmetics are just supplements used to preserve skin and keep skin healthy.

본질이 중요하다는 것입니다. 신앙의 본질이 무엇입니까? 믿음입니다.

The essence is important. What is the essence of faith? it is Faith.

그런데 사람들은 자꾸 본질 아닌 것에 얽매이고 있습니다.

However, people are still bound to something that is not essence.

특히 고난과 역경에 처하면 비본질적인 것에 얽매이기 쉽습니다.

In particular, it is easy to become entangled in non-essential things when you face hardship and adversity.

늙어지면 사소한 며느리의 말도 괘씸합니다.

The words of a minor daughter-in-law become bloated when mother-in-law get old.

병들면 모두가 서운하게 느껴집니다.

Everyone feels sad when sick.

실직하면 전에는 아무것도 아닌 사소한 것에 얽매이기 쉽습니다.

If you lose your job, it's easy to get entangled in something small that was nothing before.

아내가 외출하여 밥 한끼 챙겨 주지 않으면 자신이 실직하니 무시한다고 생각합니다.
If someone‘s wife goes out and doesn't prepare a meal, he might think she ignored him because he is unemployed.

사람들이 어려움을 당하면 당할수록 주변가치에 더 신경을 씁니다.

The more people suffer, the more they care about their side values.

그러나 오늘 성경에 나오는 바울은 그렇지 않았습니다.

However, Paul in the Bible today did not.

어려우면 어려울수록 더욱 핵심가치에 집중하였습니다.

The harder situation he face, the more he focused on his core values.

바울이 감옥에서 집중한 것이 무엇입니까? 복음 증거입니다.

What did Paul focused on in the prison? it is Gospel witness.

빌1:18절은 이렇게 말씀하고 있습니다.

Philippians 1:18 says:

빌1:18 "그러면 무엇이냐 겉치레로 하나 참으로 하나 무슨 방도로 하든지 전파되는 것은 그리스도니 이로써 나는 기뻐하고 또한 기뻐하리라"

Php 1:18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,

바울이 감옥에서도 복음을 전하는 것을 보고, 그를 이기고 싶어서 투기와 분쟁으로 복음을 전하는 사람들도 있었습니다(15).

Some saw Paul preaching the gospel in prison, and they preached the gospel through speculation and conflict against Paul(15).

그들은 바울보다 더 열심히 전함으로 바울을 더 괴롭게 할 줄 알았습니다(17).

They knew that by preaching harder than Paul, they would make Paul more distressed (17).

그러나 바울은 주변가치에 집중하지 않고 핵심가치에 집중했습니다.

However, Paul did not focus on the surrounding values, but on the core values.

바울은 자신의 사명을 분명히 안 사람입니다.

Paul was a man who clearly knew his mission.

어떻게 하든 오직 예수 그리스도만 증거 되면 되는 것을 그는 알았습니다.
Whatever he did, he knew that only Jesus Christ needed to be witnessed.

신앙 생활하면서 주변가치에 얽매여 실망하지 마시기 바랍니다.

As you live your faith, don't be discouraged by being bound by the values ​​around you.

성경에 보면 한나가 아이를 낳지 못합니다. 아이를 낳았던 브닌나가 한나를 괴롭힙니다.

In the Bible, Hannah couldn’t give birth. Peninnah, who gave birth to a child, harassed Hannah.

그 때 한나는 무엇을 합니까? 날마다 브닌나와 머리잡고 싸웁니까? 아닙니다.

What does Hannah do then? Did she fight head to head with Peninnah every day? no.

한나는 핵심 가치를 알았습니다. 부인으로써 아이만 낳으면 되는 것입니다.

Hannah knew the core values. As a wife, she only need to have child.

한나는 브닌나와 갈등을 접고 하나님께 나가 부르짖습니다.

Hannah ends up in conflict with Peninnah and cries out to God.

한나는 간절히 부르짖어 기도하고 또 기도합니다.

Hannah prays and prays earnestly.

결국 한나는 사무엘을 낳았습니다. 사무엘을 민족 지도자로 만듭니다.

Eventually, Hannah gave birth to Samuel. Make Samuel a national leader.

여러분의 삶에 고난이 찾아오고 역경에 처해 있습니까?

Are you in trouble and adversity in your life?

하나님이 당신을 부르신 핵심가치에 집중하십시오.

Focus on the core values ​​God has called you to.

핵심가치에 집중하면 당신의 고난과 역경을 어렵지 않게 극복할 수 있습니다.
By focusing on the core values, you can overcome your hardships and adversities without difficulty.

3. 고난과 역경에 처할 때 믿음의 눈으로 바라보고 기뻐해야합니다. (18)
3. When we face hardship and adversity, we must look and rejoice with the eyes of faith. (18)

사람들이 고난과 역경에 처하면 세 가지 중 하나로 반응을 보입니다.

When people face hardship and adversity, they respond in one of three ways.

첫째로 극복형입니다.

First, overcoming type.

자신에게 불리하고 고통스런 환경을 하나님이 주신 시련으로 생각하고 극복해나가는 사람이 있습니다.

There are those who think of and overcome their unfavorable and painful circumstances as trials given by God.

둘째는 방종형입니다.

The second is indulgence type.

자신에게 불리하고 고통스런 환경에 소극적이 되고 회피적인 자세로 사명은 게을리 하며 쾌락의 종이 됩니다.

Being passive in an unfavorable and painful environment, the mission is negligent and a servant of delight.

셋째는 포기형입니다.

The third is abandonment.

그 환경을 준 대상자를 원망하고 불평하다가 결국 좌절하고 자신에게 주어진 일을 포기해버리는 사람들입니다.
Those who blame and complain about the people who gave them the environment, but eventually get frustrated and give up what they have been given.

왜 자포자기하고 포기합니까? 환경만 보기 때문입니다.

Why do you give up and never try? Because we only see the environment.

"왜 내가 감옥에 갇혀, 왜 내가 사업에 실패해, 왜 내가 병들어, 왜 우리 가정이 이렇게 어려움을 당해야 해..."등

"Why am I jailed, why am I failing in business, why am I sick, why is my family have to suffer like this ..."

그 황무지 같은 환경에 집착을 해 버립니다. 그것이 크게 보입니다.

being obsessed with the environment like that wasteland. and It looks huge.

우리 인생은 손에 가시가 박히면 신경이 온통 그곳에 집중하듯이, 어려움이 닥쳐오면 그 어려움에서 생각이 벗어나지 못합니다.

In our life, when a thorn is in our hands, our nerves are all concentrated there, so when difficulties come, we cannot escape our thoughts.

우리에게 어려움이 닥쳐오면, 우리의 생각이 황무지의 포로가 되어 절망해 버립니다.
When difficulties come upon us, our thoughts become captives of the wasteland and despair.

그러나 바울을 보십시오. 자신의 환경은 감옥(교도소)입니다.

But look at Paul. his environment is a prison (prison).

같은 신앙을 가졌다는 사람 중에서도 자신을 대적하는 사람들이 있습니다.

there is some people who saying they have the same faith, are opposed.

그런데 그는 그것을 보면서도 절망하지 않습니다.

But Pasul doesn't despair even looking at it.

오히려 복음이 증거 되는 것을 보면서 기뻐하고 있습니다.

Rather, he appreciated to see the Gospel witnessed.

세상이 어두울수록 별은 더 빛나는 것입니다.

The darker the world, the brighter the stars.

우리 마음속에 있는 것은 불이 난다하여도 빼앗아 갈 수 없는 것입니다.

What is in our mind is that even if there is a fire, it cannot be taken away.

동기야 어떻든 전파되는 것은 그리스도니 기뻐하는 것입니다(18).

Whatever the motive, it is Christ who being spread so that is the resone to rejoice (18).

빌 1:18 그러면 무엇이냐 겉치레로 하나 참으로 하나 무슨 방도로 하든지 전파되는 것은 그리스도니 이로써 나는 기뻐하고 또한 기뻐하리라.

Php 1:18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,

바울의 핵심가치는 자신의 처지와 자신의 문제가 아닙니다.

Paul's core values ​​are not his situation and his own.

바울은 그리스도가 증거 되는 것, 그것 하나로 얼마든지 기뻐하고 있습니다.

Paul rejoices as much as the Christ is being witness.

그가 당한 수많은 고통과 아픔이 있다하여도 그리스도가 증거 되면 만족하고 기뻐하는 것입니다.
Even if there is a lot of pain he suffered, he is satisfied and rejoiced when Christ is witnessed.

바울은 자신이 고난 받아도 주님의 영광이 드러나고, 하나님의 뜻이 이 땅에 이루어지면 그것으로 기뻐합니다.

Paul rejoices when his suffering reveals the glory of the Lord and God's will is done on earth.

그러나 어떤 이들은 투기와 분쟁을 의도로 복음을 전합니다.

However, some preach the gospel with the intention of speculation and conflict.

그들은 자신들의 논리로 복음을 전함으로 감옥에 갇혀 있는 바울의 마음에 고통을 더 줄 것이라 생각했습니다.(17)

They thought that preaching the gospel with their own logic would add to the suffering of Paul in prison. (17)

하지만 바울은 그들의 의도와는 정반대로 복음이 전해짐을 기뻐하고 또 기뻐했습니다.

However, Paul rejoiced and rejoiced that the gospel was preached contrary to their intentions.

바울은 핵심가치인 복음에 대한 목표가 분명했습니다.
Paul had a clear goal for the core value of the gospel.

사실 모든 사람은 불리한 환경, 어려운 환경, 고통스러운 환경에 처할 수도 있습니다.

In fact, everyone can be in an adverse, difficult or painful environment.

그런 환경에서 대부분의 사람들은 자기중심으로 바라보고 낙심하며, 슬퍼하고, 괴로워합니다.

In such an environment, most people look and feel discouraged, sad, and distressed.

심지어 본질을 잃어버리고 가장 고귀한 신앙까지 잃어버리는 사람들이 있습니다.

Some people even lose their essence and even the most noble faith.

그러나 그런 환경일지라도 그리스도 중심으로 본질을 바라보면 기쁨이 밀려옵니다.

But even in such an environment, looking at the essence of Christ center brings joy.

어떤 시각으로 바라보느냐에 따라 우리의 감정의 반응은 엄청난 차이가 납니다.

The response of our emotions varies greatly depending on how we view it.

하나님은 이스라엘 백성들과 함께하셨습니다.

God was with the Israelites.

하나님은 낮에는 구름기둥으로, 밤에는 불기둥으로 이스라엘 백성들을 도우시고 함께하셨습니다.

God helped the Israelites with a pillar of clouds during the day and a pillar of fire at night.

그들이 홍해를 만났습니다. 뒤에는 애굽 군대가 이스라엘 백성들을 치려고 좇아옵니다.

They met the Red Sea. Later, Egyptian troops followed the Israelites.

믿음이 적은 그들은 모세를 향하여 원망을 쏟아냅니다.

Those with little faith pour resentment toward Moses.

그러나 모세는 문제를 놓고 하나님께 엎드립니다.

But Moses leave it to God with a problem.

모세가 주의 말씀대로 했더니 하나님은 이스라엘 백성들을 위하여 홍해가 갈라지게 하십니다.

Moses did as what God told him, and God made the Red Sea split for the Israelites.

할렐루야였습니다. 그들은 수르광야로 사흘 길을 더 갔습니다.

It was Hallelujah. They went three more days to the Sur wilderness.

그러나 물을 얻지 못하고 마라에 이르렀는데 쓴 물이어서 마시기 어려웠습니다.

However, they couldn't get any water when they reached Mara, because water there was bitter and it was hard to drink.

이스라엘 백성들은 다시 모세를 원망하기 시작합니다(출15:22-26).

The Israelites began to blame Moses again (Exodus 15: 22-26).

광야 생활을 하는 이스라엘 사람들을 보십시오.

Look at the Israelites living in the wilderness.

그들은 늘 환경을 보고 탄식하며, 지도자 모세를 원망합니다.

They always see the environment, sigh, and blame the leader Moses.

출15:24절입니다.

Exodus 15:24.

출 15:24 백성이 모세에게 원망하여 이르되 우리가 무엇을 마실까 하매

Ex 15:24 And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"

왜 그들은 원망하는 반응을 보였습니까?

Why did they respond resentfully?

그들은 눈앞의 환경이 어려운 것만 보았습니다.

They saw only the difficult environment in front of them.

그들은 모든 것을 준비해 놓고 기다리시며 훈련시키시는 하나님을 보지 못합니다.

They don't see God preparing everything, waiting, and training.

지금 그들은 하나님의 아름다운 계획과 완벽한 축복의 땅으로 가는 과정임을 잊고 있습니다.

Now they forget that it is the process of going to the land of God's beautiful plan and perfect blessing.

그래서 그들은 계속 원망을 합니다.

So they keep blaming.

결정적으로 그들은 가나안 땅이 눈앞에 펼쳐진 가데스바네아에 섰습니다.

Crucially, they stood in Kadeshbanea, where the land of Canaan.

그들은 지금까지 무수히 많은 하나님의 능력을 경험을 하고 거기에 도달한 것입니다.

They have experienced and reached countless powers of God so far.

그런데도 아직도 여전히 황무지만 보고 있습니다. 그들 대부분은 아직도 믿음이 없습니다.

Still, they see the wasteland. Most of them still have no faith.

이스라엘 백성들은 환경을 바라보고 환경 때문에 마음에 근심을 합니다(민14:1).

The Israelites look at the environment and worry about the environment (Num. 14: 1).

그리고 그들은 욕구불만의 포로가 됩니다.(민14:2)

And they become prisoners of dissatisfaction (Num. 14: 2).

결국 그들은 좌절하고 모세를 비판합니다(민14:3,4)

Eventually, they are frustrated and criticize Moses (Num. 14: 3,4).

그러나 여호수아와 갈렙은 환경만을 바라보지는 않았습니다.

However, Joshua and Caleb did not just look at the environment.

그 환경을 주신 하나님과 지금까지 함께 해주신 하나님을 바라보았습니다.

They looked at God who gave them the environment and God who was with them so far.

여호수아와 갈렙은 결코 가나안 족속들을 두려워하지 않았습니다.

Joshua and Caleb never feared the Canaanites.

민14:8-9절을 보십시오.

See Numbers 14: 8-9.

(민 14:8-9) 여호와께서 우리를 기뻐하시면 우리를 그 땅으로 인도하여 들이시고 그 땅을 우리에게 주시리라 이는 과연 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이니라. 9) 다만 여호와를 거역하지는 말라 또 그 땅 백성을 두려워하지 말라 그들은 우리의 먹이라 그들의 보호자는 그들에게서 떠났고 여호와는 우리와 함께 하시느니라 그들을 두려워하지 말라 하나

Nm 14:8-9 If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them."

여호수아와 갈렙은 가나안 땅을 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이라 말합니다.

Joshua and Caleb refer to the land of Canaan as a land flowing with milk and honey.

그들은 가나안 족속을 향해 “그들은 우리의 먹이라”고 말합니다.

They say to the Canaanites, "for they are bread for us."

사랑하는 여러분, 하나님이 나와 함께 하시느냐 함께하시지 않느냐가 문제이지, 환경은 결코 문제가 될 수 없습니다.

Dear everyone, it is a question whether God is with me or not, and the environment can never be a problem.

바울은 불리한 환경이 오히려 유익한 결과를 가져다줌을 크게 기뻐했습니다.

Paul was very pleased that the adverse environment had rather beneficial results.

우리도 고난과 역경이, 그리고 황무지 같은 환경이 우리에게 여러 가지 영적 유익을 가져다준다는 것을 알고 기뻐해야 합니다.

We too should be pleased to know that hardships, adversity, and wasteland conditions bring us many spiritual benefits.

우리는 고난과 역경을 만날 때 너무 불평하지 말아야 합니다.

We should not complain too much when we encounter hardship and adversity.

실의와 좌절에 빠지지도 말아야 합니다.

Don't be disappointed and frustrated.

자포자기 상태가 되어서도 안됩니다.

We should not be in desperation.

지구의 모든 환경은 하나님의 통제 아래 있습니다.

All the earth's environment is under God's control.

결국 하나님이 우리에게 요구하시는 것은 하나님을 믿고 신뢰하는 것입니다.

After all, what God requires of us is to believe and trust in God.

우리의 환경이 비록 황무지 같을지라도, 우리는 오히려 본질이신 그리스도를 향하고 그로 인하여 기뻐할 수 있어야 합니다.
Even if our environment is like a wasteland, we should rather be able to turn to the essence of Christ and rejoice in it.

한 가난한 소년이 있었습니다. 그의 꿈은 목사와 박사가 되는 것이었습니다.

There was a poor boy. His dream was to become a pastor and doctor.

그러나 가정형편이 너무 어려워 중학교를 중퇴하고 중국집 배달원으로 일했습니다.

However, my family was poor that he had to drop out middle school and work as a delivery man in a Chinese restaurant.

그러나 그 소년은 사람들에게 자신의 꿈을 말했습니다.

But the boy told people his dreams.

사람들은 소년이 자신의 꿈을 말할 때마다 비웃었습니다.

People laughed whenever the boy told his dream.

그는 낯선 환경을 극복하고 하루 20시간씩 공부를 합니다.

He became pastor and earned first Ph.D. in physical education among all korean in the United States.

고난과 역경은 꿈과 소망이 있는 사람에게 투지를 자극하는 윤활유가 될 뿐이지만, 나약한 사람에게는 잔인합니다.

Afflictions and adversity are only lubricants that stimulate for those who have dreams and hopes, but they are cruel to those who are vulnerable,

여러분, 고난과 역경을 만날 때 원망과 불평을 하지 말아야 합니다.

Everyone, when you meet hardships and adversity, you should not complain.

실의와 좌절에 빠지지 말아야 합니다. 자포자기 상태가 되어서도 안됩니다.

We must not fall into disappointment and frustration. We should not be in desperation.

그 환경을 주신 하나님을 바라봐야합니다.

We must look to God who has given us that environment.

모든 환경은 하나님의 통제 아래 있습니다.

All circumstances are under God's control.

결국 그 환경은 나에게 유익이 된다는 것을 믿고 하나님을 신뢰해야 합니다.

After all, we have to believe that the environment is good for us and trust God.

주님은 오늘의 Covid-19 역병과 고난의 환경을 우리에게 주셨습니다.

The Lord has given us today's Covid-19 plague and suffering environment.

Covid-19 역병과 고난의 환경은, 주님이 나의 영적성장을 위해 주신 것입니다.

Covid-19 The plague and suffering environment was given by the Lord for our spiritual growth.

그러므로 나는 여러분이 Covid-19 역병과 고난 속에서도, 오히려 주님의 뜻을 발견하고 기뻐하며, 믿음으로 승리자가 되기를 바랍니다.

Therefore, I hope that you will find and rejoice in the Lord's will in the midst of the Covid-19 plague and hardship, and be victorious by faith.

기도: 사랑하는 주님, 오늘의 Covid-19 환경의 고난과 역경은 우리에게 큰 어려움입니다.

Prayer: Dear Lord, the hardships and adversities of today's Covid-19 environment are a great challenge for us.

그러나 이 어려운 환경도 주님이 나의 영적성장을 위해 주신 것으로 믿고 감사합니다.

However, I believe that this difficult environment has been given by the Lord for my spiritual growth.

We want the plague and suffering of Covid-19 to stop quickly in our Rodriguez region and the Philippines

또한 치료백신이 속히 개발되어 전 세계인이 이 질병에서 승리할 수 있도록 도와주소서.

Also, help the people of the world to win the disease by developing a therapeutic vaccine quickly.

많은 사람들이 Covid-19의 역병과 고난을 계기로, 주님께로 많이 돌아오게 하옵소서.

Pray for many people to return to the Lord through the plague and suffering of Covid-19.
