나의 첫 직장생활 때 외국 소재 호텔에서 근무했다. 

현재는 국내 호텔에서 근무 중이다. 

나는 보통 지난 과거에 미련을 두는 걸 좋아하지 않지만, 

요즘따라 부쩍 예전이 그리워지는 것은 사실이다.

- I worked at a hotel located overseas in my first job. 

  Nowadays, I work at a hotel in Korea. 

  I don't usually like to dwell on the past, but the truth 

  is that lately, I pine for the good old days much more.

+ located : 위치된

+ overseas : 해외에,해외로

+ pine for : ~을 애타게 그리다, ~을 몹시 그리워한다

cf )long for : 열망하다,갈망하다,~을 그리다

+ good old days : 좋은 옛 시절

+ dwell on : ~을 곱씹다, ~을 깊이 생각하다,

                  숙고하다,회상하다

외국에서 근무했을 당시에는 모든 것이 좋았다. 

함께 일했던 이들은 '동료'라는 단어가 딱딱하게 들릴 

정도로 모두 친구 같은 존재였다.

- Everything was peachy when I worked abroad. 

  Those who I worked with were all like friends, 

  so the word 'coworker' felt cold.

+ be peachy : 아주 만족스럽다

cf) peachy : 복숭아같은, 좋은,아주 멋진

+ feel cold : 딱딱하고 냉정하게 느껴지다

+ coworker : 동료​

그곳에서 일하면서도 친구들과 즐거운 시간을 보내는 

것처럼 느껴졌다. 

상사에게도 직급에 상관없이 편하게 이름을 부를 수 있었고, 

언제든지 자유롭게 내 의사 표현을 할 수 있는 수평적인 

근무 환경이었다. 

출퇴근도 자유로운 편이었다.

-I felt like I was just having fun with friends 

 while working there. I could call my boss 

 by his or her name regardless of job level. 

 The horizonatal work environment encouraged me 

 to freely speak my mind and we had flexible 

 work hours.

+ work environment : 근무환경

+ speak one's mind : 의견을 말하다, 의사표현을 하다

+ regardlss of : ~에 상관없이,관계없이

+ job level : 직급

+ horozontal : 수평적인

+ flexible work hours : 자유로운 출퇴근​

현재 내가 일하는 곳을 부정적으로 말하려는 것은 아니다.  

그러나 종종 마음이 답답할 때가 있다. 

어디든지 장담점이 존재한다.

-I don't mean to sound negative about the place 

 where I work now. But somtimes, it feels stuffy. 

 Every place has its pros and cons.

+ sound negative : 부정적으로 들리다, 나쁘게 들리다

cf) by no means : 어떻게 봐도 ~가 아닌, 결코~이 아닌

+ atmosphere : 분위기/대기

+ feel stuffy : 답답하게 느껴지다

+ pros and cons : 장단점​

어디서든 배울 점이 있는 법이니, 현재 직장에서 잘 적응해서 

스스로 발전해 나가는 것이 현명한 행동일 것 같다.

- There's a lot to learn anywhere, so the wise 

  course of action would be adjust to my current job 

  and better myself.

+ course of action : 행동방침

+ adjust to~ : ~에 적응하다

+ better oneself : 스스로 발전하다, 자기 계발을 하다

Talk about the atmosphere of overseas workplaces

My first job was at a hotel that was located overseas.

Nowadays, I work at a hotel in Korea.

I don't usually dwell on the past, but the truth is that lately.

I often long for the good old days.

Everything was peachy when I worked overseas.

I was such good friends with everyone that the word

'coworker' felt cold.

My job never felt like hard work.

Instead, I felt like I was just having a good time with friends.

I could call my boss by his or her name.

The work environment encouraged me to freely speak my mind.

Of course, the place where I work now is by no means

a bad atmosphere.

But sometimes, it feels stuffy.

Every place has its pros and cons.

There is always something to learn, so the wise course of

action would be to adjust and better myself.

어디서든 배울 점이 있는 법이니, 잘 적응해서 스스로

발전해 나가는 것이 현명한 행동일 것 같다.
