[틈틈이 영어공부] it's worth your while.

*worth one's while (=worthwhile)

- 영한 : (시간/돈 등을 쓸만한)가치가 있는, ~할 가치/보람이 있는, 이익이 있는, 시간의 낭비가 없는,

- 영영 : to be a good thing for someone to do because it will bring them an advantage

- 설명 : worth는 가치의 의미가 있고, while는 시간의 의미가 있어서 '누군가의 시간의 가치가 있는"의 의미를 갖게됩니다.

- 유사/동일 : worthwhile, valuable, worthy, frutiful, effective

- 활용 : make it worth (one's) while: ~의 노고에 보답/사례하다
※ If you wash my car, I'll make it worth your while. (만일 당신이 내 차를 세차하면 그만한 사례를 할게요.)

- 예문 : 

Working overtime is always worth my while. 
제게는 초과 근무가 언제든지 그만큼 가치가 있어요.

Taking an English class would be well worth your while.
영어 수업을 듣는다는 건 충분히 가치가 있는 일입니다.

Staying up late tonight won't be worth my while.

Mario: It can be but it's worth your while.

Nick: I'm glad I don't have to worry about it until I'm 21.
닉: 21살 될 때까지 생각하지 않아도 돼서 다행이에요.

Mario: But it's good that you're thinking about it now.
마리오: 하지만 지금 생각해본다는 건 잘하는 일이야.


[기억할만한 표현]
