Debate : Are Ghosts Real?
Are ghosts real? Or just a figment of one’s imagination?
Do you hear weird sounds at night? Is something sending shivers down your spine? Do you have unexplained noises plaguing your mind? Ghosts have been the topic of debate for many years as TV shows, movies, and popular entertainment seek to put ghosts in a fun, exciting, and almost terrifying light.
There is no scientific explanation as to why we hear the sounds, the creaks, and the slamming of doors, so the question that must be asked is Are Ghosts real? Or are they an unexplained mystery?
To fully grasp the concept of ghosts: we must what we are fully dealing with. Ghosts are defined by the English dictionary as an apparition of a dead person which is believed to appear or manifest in the living word, typically as a nebulous image.
Some people have complex opinions on the topic of ghosts and their frequent activity. The Cheyenne East Students shared their opinions on the existence of ghosts.
For :
Many are sceptical while discussing ghosts. Horror films always come with a disclaimer that ‘the story is set in a fictional world’. This has fuelled people’s disbelief in ghosts. But in reality, ghosts have a different meaning. A ghost is referred to as the soul of a dead person. It is experienced as a vague and evanescent form, wandering among living people.
Science has its boundaries. It is very particular about where it can be applied. But science fails to explain some of the mysteries of the world. According to a theory, ghosts may be dark energy as they are in the form of pure energy, which is present in an enormous amount, though people can’t see it. As we know, energy is neither made nor destroyed.
So if a ghost is made of dark energy, it gets a continuous supply of energy, resulting in movement. Thermodynamics is used as a study to substantiate the argument. There are many incidents about humans being possessed and haunted by ghosts and they come with strong evidence and witnesses.
Many unexplainable sightings have been caught on camera too. I conclude that ghosts are real as not every peculiar phenomenon is a hoax.
“I do [believe in ghosts],” says Savannah Schilling, 12, who has witnessed strange and interesting activity throughout her early years. “We lived in the super old house in Colorado up till my 2nd-grade year and when nobody was home, there would be creaking and cracking in the house like someone was walking around and windows would slam shut.”
Schilling believes that she could probably not see a ghost but could potentially have contact with them as they roam throughout this world. However, there is some skepticism when talking about the grim grinning beings as Caleb Miller, 11, explains.
“I’ve never seen a ghost,” says Miller. “So I can’t say for sure that they’re real, but I’ve felt all the creakings… different things you can’t explain.”
Miller also expressed the idea that he believes in the possibility of seeing a ghost, but he still isn’t sure.
“Other researchers claim that the reason ghosts haven’t been proven to exist is that we simply don’t have the right technology to find or detect the spirit world,” stated Live Science in an article entitled “Are Ghosts Real?”
There is also the stark opinion of not being able to see the spirits or even feel them at all as Ruben Salazar, 10, explains.
“I don’t believe in ghosts because I’ve never seen them,” Salazar explains. “I’m the type of person that has to see it to believe it.
Spirits exist in the atmosphere, clinging onto souls worthy of possession.
Running into ghosts isn’t even that difficult. Some buildings have a certain feel to them, sending chills through your skin. Although you convince yourself the chill is a breeze, it could be a spirit, clinging on to the nearest source of human flesh.
The existence of ghosts may seem doubtful because you can’t always see them. But their presence could haunt you for years to come if you don’t believe.
Against :
According to me, all our beliefs must have scientific reasoning. Ghosts are non-scientific creatures, whose existence is yet to be proved. In the past, the so-called ‘ghost experts’ have supposedly picked up a signal or electromagnetic activity that shows that ghosts are real. People argue that this is the ultimate truth of the paranormal.
However, there are many explanations for strange activities but they lack concrete conclusions. Sometimes the brain finds meaning in meaningless things. At the end of the day, these are fictional stories.
There is another way of looking at this debate. People become delusional and start seeing things that aren’t real. It’s a common phenomenon. This happens because you are used to your sensors giving you accurate information about the things around you accurate information about the things around you. In such cases, we experience hallucinations.
In such a state, you might feel your phone is ringing when it actually isn’t. Someone might call your name when nobody is really doing it and you may see a face or a figure in a dark shadow. We tend to believe that these incidents are paranormal activities. I don’t deny that many activities around us are unbelievably strange. But if you dig deep into them, you will find the real meanings behind them and they have nothing to do with ghosts or any paranormal activity.
To answer the burning question, the human world still does not have a clear answer as to how or what causes paranormal activity. Science believes it is a trick of the mind, but some of the human population believes that there is still something mysterious behind the creakings and unexplained noises.
The human brain is powerful. It can absorb knowledge, spin dreams, compose music and solve complex problems all in a heartbeat. It is also vast. With all those neurons, it’s no wonder humans are so imaginative that they often confuse fantasy with reality.
