         Undeterred Determination   꺾이지 않는 결심

           2 Corinthians 5:16-21  

[고후] 5:16	So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
[고후] 5:17	Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
[고후] 5:18	All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
[고후] 5:19	that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
[고후] 5:20	We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.
[고후] 5:21	God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

[고후] 5:16	그러므로 우리가 이제부터는 어떤 사람도 육신을 따라 알지 아니하노라 비록 우리가 그리스도도 육신을 따라 알았으나 이제부터는 그같이 알지 아니하노라
[고후] 5:17	그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다
[고후] 5:18	모든 것이 하나님께로서 났으며 그가 그리스도로 말미암아 우리를 자기와 화목하게 하시고 또 우리에게 화목하게 하는 직분을 주셨으니
[고후] 5:19	곧 하나님께서 그리스도 안에 계시사 세상을 자기와 화목하게 하시며 그들의 죄를 그들에게 돌리지 아니하시고 화목하게 하는 말씀을 우리에게 부탁하셨느니라
[고후] 5:20	그러므로 우리가 그리스도를 대신하여 사신이 되어 하나님이 우리를 통하여 너희를 권면하시는 것 같이 그리스도를 대신하여 간청하노니 너희는 하나님과 화목하라
[고후] 5:21	하나님이 죄를 알지도 못하신 이를 우리를 대신하여 죄로 삼으신 것은 우리로 하여금 그 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하려 하심이라

무디성경학교에서 근무하면서 누렸던 큰 특전 중의 하나는

그리스도를 위해 세상에 강한 영향력을 끼쳤던 졸업생들에 관한 이야기를 듣는 것이었습니다.

복음을 위한 그들의 희생과 인내와 열정의 이야기들은 참으로 감동적이었습니다.

One of the great privileges of serving at Moody Bible Institute was

hearing about graduates who had impacted the world for Christ.

Their stories of sacrifice, perseverance, and passion for the gospel were inspiring.

19세기말경, 메리 멕리드 베툰은 아프리카 지역 선교사가 되기 위해

시카고에 있는 무디성경학교에서 2년 동안 수학하고 훈련을 받았습니다.

그러나 졸업 후 이 흑인 여성에게 선교지에서 사역할 수 있는 기회를 주려는 선교단체는 하나도 없었습니다.

그녀는 아프리카로 가고자 하는 그녀의 꿈을 이룰 수는 없었지만, 예수님을 섬기도록 부름 받은 소명은 포기하지 않았습니다.

불굴의 의지로 그녀는 플로리다에 흑인 소녀들을 위한 작은 학교들을 운영하기 시작했는데,

이 학교가 후에 베툰-쿡만 대학으로 발전하였습니다.

그녀는 여성들의 지위 향상을 위한 큰 원동력이 되었습니다.

In the late 19th century, Mary McLeod Bethune spent 2 years studying at Moody in Chicago,

training to become a missionary in Africa.

But after she graduated, no mission board would give her the opportunity,

as an African-American woman, to serve on the mission field.

Unable to fulfill her dream to go to Africa, she didn’t give up on her calling to serve Jesus.

Undaunted, she started a small school for African-American girls in Florida

that would eventually blossom into Bethune-Cookman College.

She became a powerful force for change in the status of women.

메리의 이 업적은 꿈이 산산조각 났음에도 불구하고 주님을 섬기겠다는 그녀의 결단력에 의해 이루어졌습니다.

그녀는 하나님께서 “화목하게 하는 직책”(고후 5:18)을 자신에게 맡기셨음을 알았고, 이를 포기하지 않으려 했던 것입니다.

Mary’s legacy was forged by her determination to serve Jesus even in the face of shattered dreams.

She knew that God had entrusted to her “the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Cor. 5:18)—and she wouldn’t give up.


그것은 단지 메리 멕리드 베툰에게만 주어진 명령이 아닙니다.

예수님으로 인해 하나님과 화목해질 수 있음을 전하는 일은 우리 모두에게 주어진 소명입니다.

That wasn’t just a mandate for Mary McLeod Bethune.

Telling people they can be reconciled to God through Christ is a calling given to all of us.

Look for a way to make a difference for Jesus today—right where you are!

Wherever You have placed us, Lord, Give us the courage to proclaim To people who are lost in sin: “You can be new in Jesus’ name.”  One of the qualities God looks for in His people is a heart that is willing to serve Him.

주님, 저희를 어느 곳으로 보내시든지 죄악 속에서 방황하는 사람들에게 담대히 전하게 하소서 “예수님의 이름으로 새 사람이 될 수 있다.”라고 하나님의 백성 중에서 하나님이 찾으시는 자질 중의 하나는 하나님을 기꺼이 섬기려는 마음이다.
