(파리=연합뉴스) 임형섭 고동욱 기자 = 이재명 대통령이 프랑스 국빈 방문 일정을 마무리하고 9일(현지시간) 귀국길에 올랐다.

이 대통령은 이날 파리에서 브룬 피베 프랑스 하원의장 면담, 동포 오찬 간담회, 마티아스 코먼 경제협력개발기구(OECD) 사무총장 접견 등 일정을 소화한 뒤 서울행 비행기에 올랐다.

이 대통령은 앞서 7일 프랑스 남부 생폴드방스에서 열린 국제 영화·영상 정상회의 '뤼미에르 서밋'에 공동 의장 자격으로 참석해 5년간 5억 유로(약 8천억원)을 영상산업에 투자하겠다는 계획을 밝혔다.

이어 파리로 이동, 8일 에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령과 정상회담을 갖고 양국의 전략적 협력 기반 확대 방안과 호르무즈 해협의 자유 통항 문제 등을 논의했다.

같은 날 기업 교류 행사인 한-프랑스 비즈니스 라운드테이블에도 참석해 정부 차원에서도 기업 간 협력을 촉진하겠다는 뜻을 전했다.

PARIS, Sept. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said Wednesday he is making frequent overseas trips for summit diplomacy to maximize their benefits, as his term is constitutionally "limited."

Lee made the remarks during a meeting with a group of Korean residents in France on the last day of his four-day trip to the country for a summit with French President Emmanuel Macron.

"I have scheduled many overseas visits during the initial stage (of my presidency)," Lee said.
​
"As my term is clearly limited under the Constitution, the effects (of overseas diplomacy) can be extended only when I start early," the president added.
​
His remarks come amid recent suspicions raised by opposition party lawmakers that the president may be seeking reelection through a constitutional revision, although the Constitution stipulates that any changes to the presidential system shall not apply to the president in office at the time of a revision.

The president and his ruling Democratic Party have been pushing for a constitutional revision that would mandate a shift to a four-year, two-term presidential system from the current single five-year term system.
The president reiterated that summit diplomacy, if pursued too late in a presidency, may only lead to limited benefits even if conducted successfully, while stressing that summit diplomacy may create new opportunities for investment, as well as economic and security cooperation.

He also highlighted the importance of taking advantage of South Korea's growing global status, pledging to "do well so as not to make people worry."
