부사절에서 주어 동사 생략[Ellipsis] : when [it is] planted,｜it grows｜and becomes

부사절에서 주어 동사 생략[Ellipsis] : He said this｜while [he was] teaching｜in the synagogue in Capernaum. ➜ 부사절의 주어가 주절의 주어와 같을 때, 부사절의 주어 + be 동사는 생략이 가능하다. He said this｜while [he was] teaching = While [he was] teaching, he said this

주절과 같은 주어 + be동사'를 생략할 수 있음.

부사절에서 주어와 동사의 생략

㉮ when, till, while once, as 등의 시간의 접속사 다음에 생략.

When (he was) a boy, he lost his parents.

The paste is formed into blocks when (it is) hard. (반죽은 단단해질 때 벽돌이 된다.)

A lobster is black till (it is) boiled. (가재는 삶아질 때까지 검다.)

While (he was) on a visit to New York, he met many interesting people. 

While(you are) walking or biking around the villages, you could remember a scene..

㉯ if, unless 등 조건의 접속사 다음에 생략.

Most people stammer, if (they are) angry. (대부분의 사람들은 화가 나면 말을 더듬는다.)

If (you are) in need, don`t hesitate to ask me for money. (돈이 필요하면 주저하지 말고 내게 청해라.)

  If (it is) fine with you, you should confess. 괜찮다면, 고백해야 해.   

If (it is) possible, I want you to fix this car.

㉰ though, although however 등의 양보의 접속사 다음에 생략.

It is unfortunate, though (it is) natural. (올 것이 왔지만 안됐군요)

He failed again, although (he was) wise (똑똑했지만 그는 또 실패했다.)

Though (she was) a little tired, she seemed happy.

I can enjoy myself wherever (I am).

㉱ as if, as though 등의 양태를 나타내는 접속사 다음에 생략.

He chatters[chattered] as if (he were[(비격식) was]) mad.  마치 미친 것처럼 지껄인다[지껄였다]

따라서 when / if / although ~ [S + be동사 생략] + pp (과거분사), 보어 (형용사, 명사), 장소부사 등이 온다

㉲ 주의 : 원인, 이유 (because, as, since 등), 목적 (so that, in order that~ +will등) 또는 일부 시간 (after, before, since 등)을 나타내는 부사절에서는  '주어+ be동사'를 생략하지 않는다.
