여호와여 주의 장막에 유할 자 누구오며

LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?

주의 성산에 거할 자 누구오니이까

Who may live on your holy hill?

정직하게 행하며 공의를 일삼으며

He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous,

그 마음에 진실을 말하며

who speaks the truth from his heart

그 혀로 참소치 아니하고 그 벗에게 행악지 아니하며

and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong

그 이웃을 훼방치 아니하며

and casts no slur on his fellowman,

그 눈은 망령된 자를 멸시하며

who despises a vile man

여호와를 두려워하는 자를 존대 하며

but honors those who fear the LORD,

그 마음에 서원한 것은 해로울지라도 변치 아니하며

who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

변리로 꾸이지 아니하며

who lends his money without usury

뇌물을 받고 무죄한 자를 해치 아니하는자니

그 때에 귀신들려 눈 멀고 벙어리 된 자를 데리고 왔거늘 예수께서 고쳐 주시매 그 벙어리가 말하며 보게 된지라 무리가 다 놀라 가로되 이는 다윗의 자손이 아니냐 하니 마태복음 12:22-23

Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed him, so that the mute man spoke and saw. All the crowds were amazed, and were saying, "This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?" Matthew 12:22-23

다윗의 뿌리, 그리고 자손 the root and the descendant of David

2026년의 첫 주일 예배를 드립니다. 이 날에 우리는 다윗의 자손이신 예수를 생각합니다. 우리에게 다윗이 의미 있는 것은 그가 가나안 모든 땅을 회복하였기 때문이고 이 가나안 땅은 오늘날 우리가 주와 연합하여 회복하여 가는 천국의 영토이기 때문입니다. 다윗은 아브라함에게 약속하신 가나안 모든 땅을 회복하였고 주님은 “다 이루었다.” 선언하였습니다. 그럼 이제 남은 것은 주와 연합한 우리들의 여정입니다.

우리에게 가나안 땅의 회복은 그리스도의 장성한 분량의 충만한 데까지 자라가는 것입니다. 이는 또 다시 끝도 없이 성장을 계속해야 할 듯이 들립니다. 그러나 다윗이 회복한 가나안 땅은 마치는 시기가 있었고 주께서 “다 이루었다.” 하신 것도 역시 이 장성함이 끝도 없이 지속되는 것이 아니라 어느 시기에 다 이루었음을 선언할 수 있는 것이라는 생각을 해 봅니다. 그러면 그러한 상황이 의미하는 바가 무엇일까요?

우선, 우리의 신앙의 여정에서 광야와 가나안은 어떠한 차이가 있을까요? 모세는 그렇게 많은 능력을 행하였지만 결국 약속하신 가나안에는 들어가지 못하였습니다. 이 역사적 사실이 의미하는 것은 무엇일까요? 우리는 흔히 사역자들에게 말하기를 하나님이 들어 쓰셨다고 표현합니다. 이는 정확한 표현입니다. 하지만 그 과정에 실제로 역할을 하는 것은 그 사람 자신입니다. 그러므로 사역의 말년에 자신이 이룬, 즉 자신을 통하여 성취하신 하나님의 결과물을 볼 때 이것을 자신의 업적으로 여기기 쉬운 것입니다. 그래서 그것을 놓기 싫어하다가 평생의 성업을 다 물거품으로 만드는 사례들이 있는 것입니다.

하나님께서 모세를 가나안에 들어가지 못하게 하신 것은 능력이 부족하셔서가 아니라 오직 이 사실을 알게 하려 하심입니다. 즉 하나님의 사역에 들려 사용되고 그 결과물을 대할 때 자신의 업적이라고 여기게 되면 그러한 의로는 결코 약속의 땅 가나안에는 들어갈 수 없다는 것을 보이신 것입니다. 그러면 가나안 땅에는 무엇으로 들어갈 수 있습니까? 그것은 그리스도와의 연합을 믿는 믿음의 의로만 가능합니다.

그리스도의 장성한 분량은 얼마 만큼일까요? 하나님으로서의 장성함은 의미가 없습니다. 결국 사람으로서의 분량인데 우리가 직관적으로 알 수 있는 것은 주께서 나이 30 즈음에 사역을 시작하셨던 것입니다. 그렇다면 우리가 이 복음을 들고 사역에 나서는 시기를 주님의 장성한 분량에 이르렀다고 여겨도 된다는 것일까요? 직접적으로 그리 말하고 싶지는 않습니다. 하지만 혹시 우리 중 누구라도 그리스도의 장성한 분량에 충만함이 끝도 없이 자기 자신의 인격을 완성해 나가는 것으로 여기고 있다면 그것은 아니라고 말할 수 있습니다.

하지만 주님의 심정을 알고 그 멍에를 함께 질 수 있는 정도라면 이를 두고 장성했다고 말할 수 있지 않을까요? 오늘 본문에 주님께서 귀신들려 눈 멀고 벙어리 된 자를 고쳐주시니 사람들이 이를 보고 ‘이 사람이 다윗의 자손은 아니지, 그렇지?’라고 합니다. 그럴 수도 있겠다는 바람도 포함된 것입니다. 다윗은 보이는 가나안 땅을 회복하였고 다윗의 자손은 병든 자를 회복시킵니다. 이 둘이 서로 다르지 않다는 것을 저들이 알았던 것입니다.

우리는 지금 나의 생각이 다른 사람에게 받아들여지기를 바라기도 하고 내 삶의 방식을 전하려 하기도 합니다. 그것은 어쩌면 사람 사는 방식 그 자체일 수 있습니다. 그런데 만일 우리의 심정이 주님의 것과 다르지 않고 그 능력도 그리 하다면 그래서 주께서 귀신들려 눈 멀고 벙어리 된 자를 고치신 것처럼 우리가 그런 상황에 있게 된다면 그것은 우리의 바라는 바이기도 하고 이를 두고 주님의 장성한 분량에 이르렀다고 할 수 있지 않겠습니까?

We have our first Sunday service in 2026. On this day, we think of Jesus, the descendants of David. For us, David means a lot to us because he restored all of Canaan, and this Canaan land is the land of heaven that we are united with the Lord today. David restored all of Canaan that he promised Abraham, and the Lord declared, "We have achieved it." So what is left is our journey united with the Lord.

For us, the restoration of the land of Canaan is to grow to the full size of Christ. It sounds like we have to continue growing endlessly again. However, there was a time when the land of Canaan that David recovered was finished, and I think that the Lord's "achievement" can also declare that this prosperity does not last endlessly, but that it has been achieved at some point. So what does that mean?

First of all, what is the difference between the wilderness and Canaan in our journey of faith? Moses carried out so many abilities, but eventually he did not make it to the Canaan he promised. What does this historical fact mean? We often tell our ministers that God has heard and written them. This is a precise statement. However, it is the person himself who actually plays a role in the process. Therefore, it is easy to regard this as one's achievement when looking at the outcome of God, which was achieved through him, in the last years of the ministry. This is why there are cases in which you do not want to let go of it and then ruin all your achievements for life.

God prevented Moses from entering Canaan not because of his lack of ability, but because he only wanted to know this. In other words, he demonstrated that he could never enter Canaan, the promised land, if he was used in God's ministry and considered his achievement in dealing with the consequences. So what can you do to the land of Canaan? It is only possible in the righteousness of faith in the union with Christ.

How much of Christ's growth is meaningless. After all, it's a human being, but what we can intuitively know is that the Lord began his ministry around the age of 30. So can we consider that the time when we enter the ministry with this gospel has reached the size of the Lord? I don't want to say that directly. However, if any of us regard Christ's size as endless completion of our own personality, we can say that it is not.

But if you know how the Lord feels and can share the yoke, wouldn't you say you grew up with it? In today's text, the Lord fixes a haunted, blind and mute person, and people see it and say, "This is not David's descendant, is it?" That includes the hope of doing so. David restored the visible land of Canaan, and David's descendants restored the sick. They knew that these two were no different.

Now we want our ideas to be accepted by others and we try to convey our way of life. Maybe it's just the way people live. But if our feelings are not different from those of the Lord and our abilities are the same, so if we are in such a situation as the Lord fixed the ghostly blind and mute, wouldn't it be our wish and that we have reached the size of the Lord?
