British pop star GEORGE MICHAEL has spoken out following his car accident last weekend (16APR06), admitting he damaged three cars when he attempted a tricky manoeuvre on a steep hill.
Michael is currently at the centre of a police investigation after he damaged three parked vehicles near his north London home on Sunday.
Speaking to British chat show host MICHAEL PARKINSON, to be screened tomorrow (22APR06), Michael says, "I got into my parked car, which was on a very steep hill I have to add, took the handbrake off, tried to manoeuvre out and hit the car in front of me. "I didn't know that it hit the car in front of it, and hit the car in front of that."
Michael slammed rumours he had left the scene of the accident without contacting the damaged vehicles' owners, saying, "rubbish".
The former WHAM! star also addresses his February (06) arrest for possessing cannabis, when he was found slumped at the wheel of his car in central London.
He claims he was suffering from exhaustion after spending several sleepless nights thinking about a forthcoming memorial service for his mother.
He also insists he was "really excited" about an upcoming recording session with American crooner TONY BENNETT, and this had also affected his sleeping habits.
