Tell me about when you spill drinks by accident.

I remember a time when I spilled the drink at a restaurant by accident. I knocked over a drink in a large glass. It spilled all over my cloth and purse. Also, my mobile phone under table was soaked through. Thankfully, the phone is water proof, so there was nothing to warry about. However, my clothes and purse were the problem. I felt clammy and an uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I was wearing brightly-colored clothes, so the stain was very noticeable. Another time, I spilled some coffee I had on me. I was bringing out some coffee I bought at a café. As I turned around, I bumped into someone. I spilled my coffee on the spot. Thankfully, I didn’t get ant on my clothes, but my shoes were splattered a little bit. The coffee was hot, so my hand hurt. I didn’t get a burn, but the skin on my hand did sting a bit.  

l  Spilled(미국식)=spilt(영국식) spill의 과거형

l  Knock over : 탁! 쳐서 넘어뜨리다.

l  Spill all over : 완전 쏟다

l  Soaked through : completely wet. 흠뻑 젓다.

l  Bullet proof 방탄 fire proof 방화

l  Purse: 지갑이라기 보다는 여자들이 들고다니는 작은 가방

l  Clammy : 축축하다. I have clammy hand 나 손에 땀이 많아… clammy는 좀 찝찝한 느낌임

l  Bump into : 우연찮게 만나다 할때도…씀. I bumped into my teacher.  

l  On the spot : 바로 그자리에서

l  Splatter [스플래럴] : splatter은 작게 튄 것을 얘기함. splash는 완전 촥! 튄거고

l  Sting : 따끔따끔한. Sharp pain.  

*by accident : 실수로

He did it by accident, so I wasn’t angry.

*knock over : 쳐서 넘어뜨리다.

The kids knocked over a lamp while they were playing.

*be very noticeable : 눈에 띄다

The stain was very noticeable.

I cut my hair a little, but it is not very noticeable.

She is very noticeable because she is very loud.

I spilled some coffee I had on me.

I gave her a handkerchief I had on me.

He agreed to the deal on the spot.

-Whoops! I’m so sorry. I have butterfingers. 내가 좀 물건을 잘 떨어뜨려.;;

-Oh, no! My sweater is all wet.

-I’ll get some towels and help you dry it off.
