As mentioned in verse 23, even the righteous will suffer during the days of punishment. In the end times, the corpses of the righteous and the wicked will be mixed together, covering the land across the whole world. The final act of endurance will be the coming of Jesus. When these end-time events begin, He said, “straighten up and lift up your heads.”
In the Bible, “rise up” signifies a call to go together, while “lift up your heads” means to look to the Lord. When the end times seem near, we should consider that our salvation is near, but it also signifies the coming judgment upon the world. Therefore, we must always examine whether we are subjects of salvation or judgment.
Even though we may not have betrayed Jesus for money, we still live among those who crucified Him. Yet Jesus has not abandoned us; He purchased us with the price of His blood. We are the “end” that Jesus redeemed. Therefore, holding onto the talents, Word, and promises He has given us, we must live by faith to the end and meet Jesus.
