이재명 대통령이 최근 기자회견을 통해 여권 단합을 강조하는 메시지를 냈지만, 유시민씨는 22일 “별로 의미 없는 말”이라며 “그런 말로 수습할 수 있는 국면은 일찍 지나갔다”고 했다. 민주당 내 친노·친문 세력과 여권 강성 지지층을 대변하는 유씨는 그동안 “어물전 썩은내” “필패” 등의 단어를 써가며 대통령을 강하게 비판해왔는데, 이날도 “대통령이 검찰 개혁을 놓고 지금까지 국민을 속였다” “왕이 아니고는 할 수 없는 발언을 해왔다” 등의 작심 발언을 이어갔다.

유씨는 검찰 개편과 관련한 대통령의 태도도 강하게 비판했다. 지난 6월 취임 1주년 기자회견 때 대통령이 이 문제에 대해 ‘국회에 권한을 줬으니 책임도 지겠죠’라고 한 걸 언급하며 “이런 말은 충격적”이라며 “오만한 말들”이라고 했다. 그는 “입법권은 자기 것이 아니지 않나. 무슨 권한을 자기가 누구한테 준다는 건가. 왕이 아니고는 할 수 없는 발언”이라고 했다. 이어 “검찰 개혁이 지지부진했던 이유는 이 대통령이 수사·기소의 완전한 분리를 원하지 않았기 때문”이라면서 “지금까지 국민을 속인 것”이라고 했다.

민주당 한 의원은 “대통령이 김 후보자 문제를 밀어붙이면 지지층 반발이 상당할 것으로 보인다”며 “김 대표 역시 연일 강경파를 몰아세우는 발언을 하는데 대통령이 고개를 숙이고 비서실장이 사표까지 낸 상황에서 ‘볼수록 잘된 인사’라며 김승원 법무부 장관 후보자를 엄호한 것에 대해 사과하는 게 먼저 아니겠냐”고 했다.
