1. 오늘의 묵상칼럼 (10.12) : 하나님과 보조를 맞추는 삶

   하나님과 보조를 맞추며 걷는 일은 생각보다 고통스러울 수 있습니다. 우리는 빨리 응답받고 싶고, 원하는 방향으로 일이 풀리기를 바라며, 때로는 하나님께서 우리의 계획에 맞추어 주시기를 원합니다. 그러나 믿음의 길은 하나님을 내 뜻에 맞추는 길이 아니라, 내 뜻과 걸음을 하나님의 뜻에 맞추는 길입니다.
  오스왈드 챔버스는 하나님과 보조를 맞춰 걷는 일이 고통스럽지만, 그 보조가 맞추어질 때 하나님의 생명에서만 나타나는 품성이 우리 삶에 드러난다고 말합니다. 내 고집을 내려놓고, 조급함을 참으며, 이해되지 않는 순간에도 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 과정은 결코 쉽지 않습니다. 그러나 바로 그 과정에서 우리의 성품은 다듬어지고, 믿음은 깊어지며, 그리스도의 모습이 우리 안에 조금씩 나타납니다.
  성경은 에녹이 하나님과 동행했다고 증언합니다. “에녹이 하나님과 동행하더니 하나님이 그를 데려가시므로 세상에 있지 아니하였더라”(창세기 5:24). 에녹의 삶은 하나님과 동행한다는 것이 단지 하나님을 믿는다고 고백하는 데 그치지 않고, 매일의 삶 속에서 하나님과 함께 걷는 것임을 보여 줍니다.
에베소서 6장 13절은 악한 날에도 하나님의 전신갑주를 입고 굳게 서라고 권면합니다. 하나님과 보조를 맞춘다는 것은 어려움이 사라진다는 뜻이 아닙니다. 오히려 어려움 속에서도 말씀을 붙들고, 유혹 앞에서 물러서지 않으며, 내 힘이 아닌 하나님의 능력을 의지하여 끝까지 서는 것입니다.
  우리는 때때로 하나님께서 왜 우리의 걸음을 늦추시는지, 왜 기도에 즉시 응답하지 않으시는지 이해하지 못합니다. 그러나 하나님께서 원하시는 것은 단지 우리가 목적지에 빨리 도착하는 것이 아니라, 그 길을 걷는 동안 하나님을 닮아 가는 것입니다.
  오늘도 내 생각과 계획을 앞세우기보다 하나님의 말씀에 귀를 기울입시다. 내 뜻대로 되지 않는 순간에도 하나님을 신뢰하고, 순종하기 어려운 자리에서도 믿음으로 한 걸음씩 걸어갑시다. 하나님과 보조를 맞추는 과정은 우리를 낮추지만, 그 순종의 길에서 하나님의 생명이 우리 안에 드러나고, 마침내 악한 날에도 굳게 서는 믿음의 사람으로 세워집니다.

<오늘의 적용> 
나는 지금 하나님께 내 뜻을 이루어 달라고만 기도하고 있습니까, 아니면 내 뜻을 하나님의 뜻에 맞추고 있습니까?
오늘 내가 내려놓아야 할 고집 한 가지와, 말씀에 순종하며 실천해야 할 한 가지를 정해 봅시다.

<오늘의 기도>
  하나님 아버지, 제 생각과 계획을 앞세우며 주님보다 앞서가려 했던 모습을 돌아봅니다. 하나님과 보조를 맞추는 일이 때로는 고통스럽고 답답하게 느껴질지라도, 제 뜻보다 주님의 뜻을 선택하게 하옵소서. 에녹처럼 날마다 주님과 동행하게 하시고, 악한 날에도 말씀과 믿음으로 굳게 서게 하옵소서. 제 삶 속에서 제 고집과 성품이 아니라 하나님의 생명과 그리스도의 성품이 드러나게 하옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.


2.  Today’s Devotional Column (October 12) : Keeping in Step with God

<Today’s Scripture>
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” (Ephesians 6:13, ESV)

   Walking in step with God can be more difficult than we imagine. We want answers quickly, we want circumstances to unfold according to our plans, and sometimes we expect God to adjust His purposes to fit our desires. Yet the life of faith is not about making God conform to our will. It is about bringing our hearts and footsteps into alignment with His will.
  Oswald Chambers reminds us that keeping in step with God is painful. Yet once our steps are aligned with His, the character that comes from God’s own life begins to become evident in us. Letting go of our stubbornness, learning patience, and obeying God even when we do not understand His ways are not easy. Nevertheless, through this very process, our character is refined, our faith deepens, and the likeness of Christ gradually becomes visible in our lives.
  Scripture testifies that Enoch walked with God: “Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him” (Genesis 5:24, ESV). Enoch’s life reminds us that walking with God is more than simply professing faith. It means living each day in fellowship with Him, allowing His presence and His will to guide our choices.
  Ephesians 6:13 calls us to put on the whole armor of God so that we may stand firm in the evil day. Keeping in step with God does not mean that difficulties will disappear. Rather, it means holding firmly to His Word in the midst of hardship, resisting temptation, and depending on His strength instead of our own so that we can remain faithful to the end.
  Sometimes we wonder why God seems to slow our progress or why He does not answer our prayers immediately. But God is concerned not merely with how quickly we reach our destination; He is also concerned with who we are becoming along the way.
  Today, let us listen to God’s Word rather than insist on our own plans. Let us trust Him when things do not go as we hoped, and take each step in faith even when obedience is difficult. Keeping in step with God may humble us, but through the path of obedience, His life becomes visible in us, and we are strengthened to stand firm even in the evil day.

<Today’s Application>
1) Am I simply asking God to fulfill my will, or am I willing to bring my will into alignment with His?
2) Identify one stubborn desire you need to surrender today and one practical step of obedience you can take in response to God’s Word.

<Today’s Prayer> 
  Heavenly Father, I confess that I have often placed my own thoughts and plans first, trying to move ahead of You. Even when walking in step with You feels painful or frustrating, help me choose Your will over my own. Teach me to walk with You daily, as Enoch did, and to stand firm in faith and in Your Word even in the evil day. May my life reveal not my stubbornness or human character, but Your divine life and the character of Christ within me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
