Wow, you"re quite lucky in that you can hear the music tuned by frogs at night. What do I hear at my small residence around midnight? Let me think... Cars passing nearby, slamming doors, shrieks of drunkards, doorbells beeping somewhere near my place, loud footsteps echoing in the corridor, some gibberish from neighbor"s television which I never understand, water boiling on the electronic stove, buzzing noises from my six-year-old laptop, mouse clicks... These are a short list of things I do hear every night. Virtually, my ears are under attack all the time, aren"t they?
When I open my rather big window and light up a cigarette to smoke while appreciating the dim-lit tiny woods in the backyard of this well-maintained six-story building, I do hear other things as well. Sometimes an unpleasant melody of trumpet, no doubt blown by a beginner as it has never been harmonious. Sometimes intermittent fireworks set off by thoughtless youngsters to celebrate something of their own as it"s not New Year"s eve anyway. Sometimes especially on Saturdays, even a faint groaning sound of a girl, possibly an X-rated nasal sound of orgasm streaming out of the closed window of my next-door to make an violent assault on my ears... What the hell of place do I reside in now?
OK, let me see the bright side of things as you suggested. Isn"t it great to listen to such excellent symphony of noises instead of suffering the dead silence of the night? Isn"t it great to be harassed by such fantastic neighbors instead of bearing complete solitude? Oh, what nonsense am I talking? Never mind. It"s already 10:50 P.M. here in France. A time enough to call it a day. I"m going home now to savor my superb surroundings...^^
