The family of the Virginia Tech gunman say they are "living a nightmare" after his murderous rampage.
어제(2007년 4월 20일) 이스라엘 예루살렘에서는 지난 버지니아 공대 총기사고 희생자 유대인 교수 리브레스코 씨 장례식이 있었다. 2차대전 당시 유대인 학살 생존자였기도 한 그는 76세의 노구임에도 제자들의 생명을 구하다가 죽었으므로 이스라엘 정부가 미망인에게 표창장을 수여하였다.
이스라엘 교수는 제자들을 살리기 위해 목숨을 무릅썼으며, 동방예의지국 한국, 더구나 스승에 대한 예의가 바른 민족의 학생은 자기 교수에게마저 총을 쏘았다. 이스라엘 사람은 영웅으로 인식될 때에 한국 사람 조승희는 학살 범인으로 전세계에 보도되고 있으니, 실로 한국인의 위상은 추락하였다. 그럼에도 우리는 조승희씨 가족에 동정심을 느껴야 한다. 그간 가족이 얼마나 힘들었겠는가? 누구도 가족에 돌을 던질 수 없으며, 다른 한국인들이 조승희에 무관심하였을 때 가족은 최선을 다해 그의 사회 적응력을 도우려 했음을 기억해 주어야 한다. ______________ 버지니아 공대 총기사고 희생자 유대인 교수 장례식에 관한 BBC 뉴스 대본 >> The state of Virginia have been observing a day of mourning at noon local time, and vigils and prayers have been organized across the country. >> Meanwhile friends and relatives of an Israeli professor killed in a Virginia shootings have paid their final respect at his funeral service. This allowed his students to jump out of the window to safety. A holocaust survivor turned teacher he worked at Virginia tech well beyond the normal retirement age. He believed in his students. Ultimately he gave up his life for them.
