부산 동구 북항 친수공원에 열흘 넘게 머물고 있는 상어 ‘부캉이’를 바다로 돌려보내기 위한 구조 작전에도 부캉이가 다시 수로 안으로 돌아왔다.

3일 국립수산과학원 등에 따르면, 부캉이는 이날 낮 12시 2분쯤 구조 당국이 설치한 대형 그물을 넘어 하루 만에 수로 안쪽으로 돌아왔다.

부산해양경찰서 등 관계 당국은 전날 부캉이를 바다로 돌려보내기 위해 친수공원 제4보도교 인근에 가로 50m, 세로 4.7m의 대형 그물을 펼쳐 바다 쪽인 제6보도교 방향으로 끌며 부캉이가 수로 밖으로 나가도록 유도했다.

구조 작업 과정에서 그물이 수로 바닥에 걸리고, 부캉이가 밖으로 나가지 않으려는 모습을 보이자 당국은 수로 출구 100m 안쪽 지점에 그물을 고정하고 구조 작업을 중단했다.

그물은 부캉이가 다시 수로 안쪽으로 돌아가는 걸 막는 역할을 할 것으로 기대됐다.

부캉이는 그러나 그물 50~60m 주변을 맴돌며 바다로 나가지 않았고, 결국 그물의 빈틈을 찾아 수로 안쪽으로 돌아온 것으로 파악됐다.

구조 당국은 앞서 지난달 29일 선박과 물줄기로 부캉이를 바다 쪽으로 유도하려 했으나 실패했다.

김현우 국립수산과학원 연구관은 “부캉이가 그물이 설치됐음에도 외해로 가지 않고 그물 주변 50~60m를 시계 방향으로 맴돌았다”며 “부캉이가 수로 안으로 가려는 이유는 아직 정확히 파악되지 않았다”고 했다.

부캉이는 현재 제4보도교와 제5보도교 사이 수로에서 모습을 보이고 있다.

부캉이를 볼 수 있는 부산 동구 북항 친수공원은 이날도 많은 시민이 몰려들고 있다.

부산시설공단 등 관계 기관은 연휴 기간 인파가 몰릴 것에 대비해 순찰을 강화할 방침이다.

Despite rescue operations to return the shark ‘Bukangi’, which has been staying at Busan Dong-gu Bukhang Waterfront Park for over ten days, to the sea, Bukangi has returned to the waterway again.

According to the National Institute of Fisheries Science and others on October 3, Bukangi crossed a large net installed by rescue authorities and returned to the waterway within a day, around 12:02 p.m.

The Busan Coast Guard and relevant authorities had spread a large net measuring 50 meters wide and 4.7 meters long near the 4th pedestrian bridge of the waterfront park the previous day. They attempted to guide Bukangi out to sea toward the 6th pedestrian bridge by pulling the net in that direction.

During the rescue operation, the net became caught on the bottom of the waterway. As Bukangi showed signs of reluctance to exit, the authorities fixed the net at a point 100 meters inside the waterway exit and halted the operation.
The net was expected to prevent Bukangi from returning to the waterway. However, Bukangi circled 50–60 meters around the net without heading to sea and eventually returned to the waterway through a gap in the net.

The rescue authorities had previously attempted to guide Bukangi toward the sea using vessels and water jets on September 29 but failed.

Kim Hyun-woo, a researcher at the National Institute of Fisheries Science, said, “Despite the net being installed, Bukangi did not go out to sea and circled 50–60 meters around the net in a clockwise direction,” adding, “The reason why Bukangi is trying to enter the waterway has not been identified yet.”

Bukangi is currently visible in the waterway between the 4th and 5th pedestrian bridges.

The Busan Dong-gu Bukhang Waterfront Park, where Bukangi can be seen, was also crowded with many citizens on the day.

Relevant institutions, including the Busan Facilities Corporation, plan to strengthen patrols in preparation for the influx of people during the holiday period.
