I am feeling a bit down and out. It is nothing out of ordinary for me
to feel this way. Not that there is any real reason for me to feel
depressed. This feeling is, I have come to accept, a part of
regeneration. And as a part of my selfish remedy, I thought I would share
this song with you.
For those with kids, this song may already be familiar. It was one of
the sound tracks for the computer animated movie called "Shrek."
Not a bad movie, even if you are not a kid. I enjoyed the movie myself.
But this song by Rufus Wainwright was something I gladly took from the movie
and kept around. In my humble (and very maudlin) opinion, this song tells
us that love is necessarily painful, and in spite of the pain, or because of the
pain, it cleanses us, and saves us in the end.^^ The religious remnants in
my psyche will never leave me alone. It still haunts me. Like the
idea of "an eternal love," as one of my friends put it so
eloquently...^^
Hope you enjoy the song...
Halleluja
-by Rufus
Wainwright-
I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this...the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall
The major lift
The baffled King composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you.
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne
She cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Maybe I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you.
And it's not a cry you can hear at night
it's not somebody who's seen the light
it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
첫댓글 Yes, I am enjoying this song... His lyric is penned with thoughtful and unique twists. It seems he has created a new genre of blues. What a great piano bar fare to go along with the lyric! A perfect song for the given moment.^^ Thanks!
Hello Elaine. I am glad you like this song. This has become one of my favorite songs. I never expected it from a kid movie, but I guess I am not as old as I sometimes complain to be.^^
Hi, This song sounds good... I haven't visited cafe for a while because I'm now in Korea. My Archilles tendon was ruptured so that I got a surgery at the Seoul National University hospital at Bundang a week ago. I had a cast and using '목발' 휴...:( Wish me a luck guys...
I wish for your speedy recovery, smiley. Sounds like a pretty painful injury. Ouch. This may be a good chance to get some rest, I hope? Take care.
Thanks, Ken. While I was washing the car in US, I fell off . At that time I thought it was ok but later, MRI showed that my archilles tendon was torn. To save a few dollars I have had to pay thousand dollars.mmm..
So now I can definitely say, being healthy and no accident itself is just gaining money. Your calm song and warm words comforts me a lot... Thanks again!!
