September Newsletter
Dear Mahan,
WOW! What a fabulous month of festivals and celebration we have just had! The last participants from the Osho Ultimate Celebration are drifting away and the clear-up operation clicks seamlessly into gear once again, and the feeling we are left with here is one of triumph and success. We may say it every year, but it really does feel like the best yet! And no wonder, so many sublime talents from across the globe gathered together to provide entertainment, insight, learning and FUN! And the ever amazing Leela Community acting as the crucible in which it all can unfold so smoothly and sweetly.
For me (Niraj), this month sums up what it is to be a sannyasin living in community. Basically ordinary people (no offense guys!), doing extraordinary things; coming from the heart and not afraid to shine and display our talents. We have amongst us fantastic chefs, musicians, technicians, entertainers, organisers, leaders, space holders, dancers, lovers, DJ's, creatives, relaters, healers and plain hard grafters, most of whom did not know they were before coming here. But, encouraged by the spirit of Osho and the collaborative environment here, EVERYONE develops more of their potentials, and wow, what a potent mix it has become! If you have not been down to Leela this summer (or this year, or even ever!), check your diaries and book something soon! You are truly missing out.
The month kicked off in fine style with the 6th International Biodanza Festival, an ocean of harmony and friendship set around some glorious workshops from a world class team of facilitators. The culmination being the men rejoining the women to a thunderous drum roll of rain on the Marquee roof on the final Sunday morning! Unforgettable! Biodanza continued to make its mark throughout the month with two highly successful and enjoyable sessions during the Tantra Festival and the Osho Ultimate, creating significant interest in the School weekends which continue on the first weekend of every month.
The second Tantra Festival of this year attracted over 250 people, men and women exploring the way of Tantra for 5 days. This was the biggest ever event Osho Leela (in conjunction with the Tantra Union) has organised in terms of that amount of people for that many days. Learnings from the June Tantra Festival were taken on board and helped to make it a resounding success. The food was amazing, prepared by Jo, an old friend of Leela and now an established health-conscious cook. With the kitchen in a state of grace, the very small Leela community was supported by an army of workers - Emma, Simon, Dru, Loo, Acchara, Agyana, Carrie, Ravi, Narahari, Vivarto, Nandini, Lalitya, Samya, David, Atmo, to name but a few... thank you for your solid and heartful support! The festival ended with a mighty Cabaret: the guideline was not to do what you usually do and it produced outstanding creativity and wit.
This month, we have Robin, Purna and Dhiraj to thank for the photos:

Our first Mega Singles Weekend was also a big success and, with less than festival numbers on site, gave the community a bit of a break before the Osho Ultimate Celebration. It saw Dhiraj, Devaraj, Premal and Kailash leading it together for the first time with results to make Cupid proud. The highlight was Saturday night's romantic Italian dinner - cooked by Vishwa and Svabhavo. This is what Andrew, a returning participant, had to say about the weekend: "although quite a small group I think everyone participated fully and we all seemed to gel. I think it was possibly the best singles group I have attended so far." We are planning to revamp our Singles Weekends before the next one in February, so stay tuned.
The Osho Ultimate Celebration, our final festival of the summer, was a celebration of meditation, dancing and serious hanging out. It's the kind of festival where Osho lovers from across the decades come together to catch up, hang out, laugh, share, and above all dance! It is very special and touching. Not to mention a record number of kids this year (25!) and 14 teens. At its peak, the kitchen was preparing food for 275 people! The meditations were taken on by the Cornwall team - Archa, Sans and Vimlan - whilst the music was provided by Tarisha and her band Presence, plus newcomer to Leela, Kailash Kokopelli, who also gave workshops with a beautiful blissful presence. Every night there was live music in the marquee followed by dancing and hanging out at the bar. On the main night we had an Angel party for the first time - it was a lot of fun to see so many angels' wings being flapped and halos of innocence and butter-wouldn't-melt looks! This festival also featured the debuts of DJs Premal and Ama who were both inundated with praise after their sets. 70's pin up boys Niraj and Parvesh also treated the crowd with a rocking tour de force down memory lane during Friday's Glam Night. A big thank you to the inimitable John Cremer who can spot the comedy genius when everyone else is lost in self-judgement! He led a Comedy Hour each day and rounded the whole Festival off directing the Leela in-house team, the Speechless Sannyasins, to new comedic heights. John is returning with his own troupe the Maydays, 21st-25th September for a 5 day Improv festival. It's going to be a blast!
August is also the month when the Humaniversity AUM Meditation becomes huge: 75 attendees in the Tantra Festival and 66 in the Osho Ultimate Festival. That's how it should be for the mother of all social meditations, created by Veeresh as a thank you to Osho. It is the perfect introduction to Humaniversity work which can be further explored 16th-18th September when Geetee coming to lead The Art of Relating. Geetee has been living and training with Veeresh for nearly 20 years and it is always a highlight and an inspiration to have him at Leela. See below for further details and special offer.
This month we said a sad farewell to two of our gorgeous goddesses, Ruti and Soonita, who moved on to pastures new. We wish them every success and happiness on the next stage of their journeys. Our intrepid WOWies - Maneesh, Parvesh, Fabian and Amura - all returned from the month-long residential workshop at the Humaniversity in Holland, thoroughly washed, rinsed and spun dry and looking much the better for it. It was also great to see the return of Dhyano, the founder of Osho Leela, dancing his socks off late into the last night of the Osho Ultimate Celebration! Way to go, Dhyano, and thank you once again for your creation which continues to inspire and touch so many lives!
