Happy Travel (Day 1) - Theme and Schedule


   Arrived in Barcelona at 0:30 a.m. local time on the 8th, 1 hour and 30 minutes later than scheduled, via Rome.
   We arrived at our destination in just nineteen hours, including layovers. While other times might have been tedious and tiring, this flight wasn't dull. A place steeped in history, a place where Roman, Islamic, and Christian cultures and art coexist, a land of gypsy flamenco, bullfighting, and soccer—what a special charm this place possesses. Furthermore, Spain boasts 38 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, making it seem as if the entire country is rich in tourist resources.
  With over 40 million visitors from around the world annually, Spain is truly a tourist powerhouse. My 45-day trip was also a challenge to a new world. I took the time to review my extensive travel information and plans during the flight. Because it was such a long trip, I wanted to set a few "themes" to make it a truly rewarding experience.


  The themes I've chosen are:

(1) The Way of the Holy Land
(2) The Legacy of the Living Architect Gaudi 
(3) “The historical footprint of the confrontation between Hannibal of Carthage and Scipio of Rome.”
4)  Visiting the ruins of the Roman era
(5) Arab and Islamic culture and its influence
6) A trip to the Costa del Sol and the White Villages
(7) Madrid and its surrounding historic cities
(8) Picasso, Dali, Miró, Goya, and other Spanish classics and classicists, including Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne
(9) Flamenco and "Waves"
(10) Focusing on and savoring food and culture. After carefully examining popular themes, I announced the following itinerary and decided to travel by rental car according to this itinerary.
