There are many restaurants around Myongji University, but there are also many hidden restaurants that students do not know much about. For example, students might not know where many of these restaurants are, what they sell, or that they even exist. The Myongji press has personally visited these hidden restaurants, these “diamonds in the rough” of the Seoul and Yongin Campuses, and recommends the following restaurants to students.
<Social Science Campus>
1. Katazumuri
Katazumuri, a Korean-style noodle restaurant, was opened by a Japanese man who studied how to make udon in Kagawa-ken, Shikoku and his Korean wife. The noodles are made with only flour, water, and salt, and all preparations are done by hand. The mixture of the ingredients differs depending on each day’s temperature and humidity. A typical item on the menu is a cold garke-dong with cool noodles that are boiled and are chewier than regular udon noodles. The main menu is divided into noodles with soup and those without soup. They serve hayahya (cool noodle/cool soup), hyaazi (cool noodle/hot soup), and azizu (hot noodle/hot soup), of which gakkeu-dong and pugar-keu-dong, are examples. Without soup, yuja udon and kamatama udon also appear on the menu. In addition, you can choose from different noodles and soups at certain times and select from a variety of side dishes, such as saedodae pork, azimago, and seaweed, so you can enjoy a variety of flavors. Discounts are applied for using cash between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., so it is recommended that you bring cash when visiting Katazumuri.
2. SoSoCurry
SoSoCurry is a curry restaurant located at the back of Myongji University. It is a small white colored shop that gives you a clean impression. The simple menu shows curry-related foods as the main menu items, and the main items are curry rice, curry udon, and curry ramen.
Curry rice, the main product, is made daily by cooking the curry for 24 hours, and the large potatoes and ground vegetables can be replaced by customers who would prefer something else. Curry udon is suitable for noodle lovers, and they also provide additional rice to mix with any leftover curry. Lastly, there are noodles that come with a combination of curry and red ramen, and this item is also served with rice. I recommend this item to people who want to enjoy both rice and noodles. There are also side dishes, such as pork cutlets, potato croquettes, and chicken karaage. Their business hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., so you can enjoy both lunch and dinner there at any time.
3. Wonpeonmen
Wonpeonmen is a new ramen restaurant that also operates as an izakaya. The special feature of this ramen restaurant is that it is based around One-Punch Man, which makes it enjoyable to eat here. The restaurant owner was trained directly by a ramen master in Chiba, Japan, and he combines ramen with his favorite cartoons. The main item on the menu is ramen, which includes a basic taste of wonpeon, a spicy flavor of karamen, a soybean paste flavor of misomen, bibim ramen, and mazemen. Both extra noodles and rice are available for free. After 5 p.m., izakaya menu items such as odeng nabe, Nagasaki jjambongnabe, raw salmon sushi, chicken karaage, and fried rice become available, so it is a good place for both drinking and enjoying a meal. They are open until 1 a.m., but it is recommended that you visit as early as possible because if they run out of food, they close early.

Hahatsu is a handmade pork cutlet restaurant. At the entrance, there is the plate which is written the rankings of the best food. The first is the spicy port cutlet, second hand-made pork cutlet and so on. The interior is clean since it is newly opened. At the table is a message telling customers to not be surprised by the reddish part of the pork cutlet, since it is normal for the pork to be reddish because of the heat while cooking it. Radish and kimchi are self-service, but you can also order it from the staff. The meat is tender, and the hot sauce is a little spicy than Shin Ramyeon. The amount of the food is big, but the price is no more than 8.000 won, except for the mixed menu. It opens on 10:00 –22:00, and every Sundays are closed.

Vietnam Noodle sells various Vietnamese foods, mainly rice noodle, fried rice, and fried noodle. The menus are no more than 6,000 won, so you can enjoy the food with no worries about money. You can order the food with the unattended payment system. The beef fried rice is sweet and is less greasy than the most fried rice, and the rice noodle has very clean taste and has lots of vegetables. What is more, the amount of food is big. At the end of the table, there is the smartphone charger, so you can charge your phone while waiting for the food. It runs from 11:00 and closes at 21:00, and the last order finishes at 20:30. Break time is 15:00-17:00, and every Sundays are closed.
4. 153 Pointz Sausage Stew
Sausage stew was created during the Korean war, which people made the stew with various American leftover foods, such as pieces of sausages. In Yongin Campus, there is the "153 Pointz Sausage Stew". From the name, 1 means "The only menu patented in Korea", 5 for "Lycopene rises up 5 times when boiling tomatoes" and 3 for "3 times increase the absorption of the capacity of the body when eating sausage stew with milk". At the sausage, stews are tomatoes and milk(the gravy contains milk), different from the most sausage stew we imagine it to be. The stew should be boiled for some time because if you eat it fast, you can taste the flavor of the milk first. There are sausages, beans, ham, tofu, and even macaronies. For dessert, you can eat ice cream that sells for 1,000 won or 1,500 won, or you can drink coffee from the cafe that is in the store.
One of the ways to feel happiness and relieve stress is to eat delicious foods. So, if you want to enjoy delicious foods, why not try foods that are staked in this article? We hope that many people try these restaurants and enjoy a great meal.
