Be a holy living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2)
We promise to offer the first part of the worship service at church and the second part of the worship service in our lives.
But the question is, who can worship in which the Holy Spirit and the truth become one?
Can a person who only believes in what the Son of Man Jesus has done and waits for Jesus to come again truly worship in the Holy Spirit and truth?
If you cannot worship in the Holy Spirit and in truth, the worship of your life will not appear, and therefore you will not be able to see the faith that works through love (Galatians 5:6).
Who hasn't at one time sung loudly and shouted, "I love you, Lord?"
However, it took a long time for the Spirit of truth to come into me and to learn to truly love the Lord by remaining in the commandments of becoming one with Christ.
It is a great blessing that I now have no hesitation in confessing that I love the Lord.
The salvation of Romans 8 is real only when it appears as a holy living sacrifice after Romans 12.
Q. What are the conditions for a living sacrifice?
“I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable worship.” (Romans 12:1)
A. A living sacrifice, unlike a dead sacrifice, is a sacrifice offered through our daily lives.
Under the law, dead sacrifices were offered.
The sacrifice of the law is a sin offering and foreshadow true sacrifice of what is to come.
The sacrifice of the law is a sacrifice that lasts until the reality comes.
The sacrifices of the law are the sacrifices of atonement and foreshadowing before the sacrifice of Christ offered once for all.
For the dead sacrifice, a substitute, was offered, such as animals, grain, or ransom(money).
The death of Jesus Christ is actually a sacrifice of atonement for our sins.
He died by the law and therefore bore the penalty for our sin against the law.
The wages of sin is death, and the price for the death was paid for with a single death.
The Old Testament's atonement sacrifice offered a substitute, not a person.
However, unclean things could not be sacrificed (Leviticus)
On the other hand, a living sacrifice is offered with the body.
Therefore, we must think about the chapters prior to Romans 11 holistically.
Think deeply about how you have become one with Christ, and how you, born in the midst of sin and flesh, have been spiritualized in Christ.
This is what it means to think about the redemptive grace of Christ.
This meditation is the most important basis for living sacrifice.
Even a dead sacrifice cannot be an offering of something unclean, so how can a person who has not recieved righteousness and holiness in Christ offer a holy living sacrifice with his body?
In this spiritual state, He tells us to offer a living sacrifice according to God's mercy.
Because God's severity is judgment, but his mercy is salvation.
The sacrifice of a holy life is not a bribe for salvation, but an offering of praise, gratitude, glory, and honor to God because one has been saved.
On the other hand, the dead who belong to the earth would have a foul odor full of resentment and complaints.
Therefore, a living sacrifice is a sacrifice of salvation.
The sacrifice of killing is a sacrifice of judgment.
Because we have been saved, we can offer a living sacrifice, and offering a living sacrifice itself is salvation.
And spiritual worship is worship in which the Word (Logos) becomes reality into us and appears in life.
Worship in spirit and in truth is true worship. (John 4:24)
A living sacrifice is something that can be done anytime, anywhere.
Therefore, only when we can kill our flesh with the spirit in Christ and come to God according to the knowledge of the truth can we offer a living sacrifice.
A living sacrifice is a sacrifice of daily life.
Therefore, we must first learn to live by Christ, not me. (Galatians 2:20)
However, the sacrifice in the Old Testament was to ‘kill them all.’
Then, spiritual worship must be offered in a holy, spiritual state.
We must be in the spirit, not in the flesh, not under the law but in the commandment of Christ's love. (John 14:21)
Under the law no one was holy.
But in Christ we are sanctified by the truth.
And a living sacrifice is a sacrifice that God is pleased with.
It is a sacrifice that conforms to God’s will.
That is the sacrifice that God approves.
Only when these three things, life, spiritual worship, and God's pleasure, are met are the requirements for a living sacrifice established.
Q. What is the method of living sacrifice?
“And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
A. First, it is a negative command not to conform this world.
A flesh person cannot overcome the ideas, values, and trends of this generation.
So he warns that woe to those who belong to the earth. (Revelation 12:12)
The reason you need to receive the Holy Spirit is to be saved from this generation. (Acts 2:40)
There must be a second change of mind.
It must be equipped and built-in with a spiritual system that renews the mind.
This is personal, subjective spiritual knowledge, a secret belonging to experience.
This means that sinners who were in the image of Adam must hold the mystery of gaining righteousness in Christ and being transformed into the image of Christ in the word of truth.
As a result, the concepts and thoughts of the mind change.
It is a change in consciousness.
Romans 8 talks about the process by which God's children, who have no condemnation and get freedom in Christ, put to death the deeds of the body with the Spirit and advance into the glorious freedom of the Son of God.
Therefore, you must always adorn yourself with that concept.
Thirdly, we must discern (Tokimazo).
You must have discernment about this generation, yourself, and God.
If you want to turn your back on this generation and move toward God, you must change yourself.
These three are spiritual worship, the basis of living sacrifices, and the three major principles of living sacrifices.
If this doesn't happen
1) It does not become a living sacrifice.
In fact, this is not necessary for dead sacrifices that are offered as substitutes.
2) Because it is not holy, a person’s concept cannot be changed.
3) God is not pleased. Because they do not know God’s will.
Then God's will is
1) He is good. (Agadon) This refers to unconditional and absolute goodness regardless of the other person’s reaction.
2) His pleasure (New Areston), and it is the rejoicing that God said in Chapter 1, “It was good.”
One thing we know is that if God is joyful, we are automatically joyful. (John 15:11)
3) He is perfect (Peleion) and is complete.
Only by discerning these three wills of God can we offer a living sacrifice.
We must clearly understand that 'discern God's will, which is good, pleasing, and perfect' does not mean discerning about people.
Humanity is nice to see, but it goes away after a while.
Romans 12 begins with ‘therefore.’
In fact, this is what happens to the person who has achieved salvation in Chapter 8.
Verses 1-2 are the basic attitudes you must have.
So verse 1: Offer yourselves.
Verse 2 is to have the attitude of not conforming this generation, which refers to the customs, situations, fellowship, and organization of this generation.
Then, have the attitude to receive change and then have discernment.
He says that offering one's life to God in this state is a living sacrifice.
