이재명 대통령은 14일 신임 대통령비서실장에 임광현 국세청장을 임명했다.

강훈식 비서실장은 이날 후임 비서실장 인선을 직접 발표했다. 강 실장이 지난달 21일 이 대통령에게 사의를 표명한 지 23일 만이다.

임 신임 실장은 충남 홍성 출신으로 1995년 행시 38회로 공직에 입문했으며, 서울지방국세청 조사1국장, 국세청 조사국장, 서울지방국세청장, 국세청 차장 등을 거쳤다. 비례대표로 22대 총선에 당선됐으며, 이재명 정부 첫 국세청장을 지냈다.

강 실장은 인선 배경에 대해 “임 신임 비서실장은 풍부한 행정 경험과 정무 감각을 겸비한 경제 관료 출신 정치인”이라며 “이재명 정부 초대 국세청장으로 조세 정의 확립에 기여해 왔고, 불평등의 벽을 낮추겠다는 대통령의 국정 철학을 정책 현장에서 충실히 실천해 왔다”고 했다.

임 신임 실장은 “1995년 공직에 입문한 이래 국민께 봉사한다는 사명을 늘 품어왔지만, 비서실장 소임을 맡게 되니 그 책임이 어느 때보다 무겁게 다가온다”며 “정권 초기 내란 극복과 경제 회복이라는 막중한 과제를 성공적으로 완수하신 강훈식 실장님께 감사와 존경의 말씀을 드린다”고 했다.

이어 “이재명 정부의 성과를 계속 이어가면서 국민이 피부로 느끼는 삶의 변화를 반드시 만들어내는 것이 제게 주어진 소명”이라며 “국민의 고단한 하루를 바꾸는 데 모든 힘을 다하겠다”고 했다.

President Lee Jae Myung appointed Lim Kwang-hyun, the National Tax Service Commissioner, as the new Head of the Office of the President on the 14th.
