<What Should We Prepare Before Getting Married?>
What should we prepare before getting married?
You need to spend at least three years learning about your partner—caring for them, loving them, and discovering where the two of you may not be compatible.
This is because we live in a three-dimensional world.
During that time, you need to discover both the strengths and weaknesses of the other person.
If they have weaknesses, ask yourself,
“Can I help and support this person with these weaknesses?”
If their weaknesses are so serious that they would be too much for you to handle, then you need to reconsider the relationship.
On the other hand, when you see their strengths, ask yourself,
“Can I help bring out these strengths so that this person can truly shine?”
You need to examine these things carefully, as if you were conducting an important interview.
There is something else to consider.
Marriage is not always just about the two people involved.
For example, what if your future spouse has a younger brother who constantly causes trouble?
That should also be part of what you consider before marriage.
What if your future mother-in-law is extremely harsh and hurtful with her words?
That, too, needs to be taken into consideration.
You also need to clearly understand whether you are simply “getting married” or “marrying into a family.”
Traditionally, marrying into a family meant going to live as part of that household.
If that is the kind of marriage you are entering, you need to understand the family and its environment thoroughly beforehand.
But what about marriage in a different sense?
Rather than allowing either family to interfere excessively, two people who are well matched come together, learn and grow alongside each other, and create a new life together.
If two people sincerely devote three years to caring for and supporting each other before marriage, they should understand that this can build a foundation for a lifelong commitment to one another.
It is not too late to marry after taking the time to learn and prepare in this way.
