Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
The "living water" Jesus spoke of is the Holy Spirit given by God, and the eternal life that the Spirit provides.
Later, Jesus said, “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”
Without hesitation, the woman replied, “Sir, give me this water so that I will not be thirsty, nor come all the way here to draw water.”
Have we ever responded like she did after reading the Word—saying, “Lord, do unto us as Your Word says”?
Faith is an ongoing conversation with Jesus. We do not start with faith strong enough to move mountains. Instead, when Jesus speaks, we respond. Through this continual response, we discover the path of salvation in His words.
